The Commander in Chief should not be spoken of in this manner during Military events.
If this snake oil salesman has a problem, he should do it in Public without Military presence.
The Office of Commander in Chief is to be respected by all Americans.
Got a beef?
Voice it with your vote.

First of all "Saint Michael", when the Commander in Chief starts acting like one then maybe he would be the respect the office confers. I find it unlikely that you had any problem with other liberal toolbags slagging on George W. Bush.
Secondly, that "snake oil salesman" to whom you refer is a retired USMC Gunnery Sergeant who served 4 tours in Vietnam although I doubt that you grasp the import of that earned title. What have *you* done for your country lately, Miss Nancy-boy?
Obama *won* the title of "C-in-C" in a quadrennial political beauty pageant. R Lee Ermey *earned* his title. There's a difference. Please cite your own military bona fides before you call a veteran a "snake oil salesman".
Thirdly, USMC GySgt [ret] Ermey is now a civilian and can express his opinion in any way covered under the First Amendment. Sorry that puts your self-righteous panty hose in a torque. Call your therapist. I'm sure R Lee Ermey can suggest one.
And I'm pretty certain that he "voiced his beef" by not voting for the Imam from Hopeychangistan.
You're dismissed.

Hey "Saint Michael"… STFU!
December 30, 2010 at 12:41 am
R. Lee Ermey, if you were this tough at Toys For Tots, you must have been hell on two legs in 'Nam!
December 30, 2010 at 1:14 am
@Steve: I like your point about consistency. How quickly Liberals forget when they bash Bush then demand respect for an impostor usurper.
December 30, 2010 at 3:11 am
Steve, you're hired! 🙂 I don't know for what, yet, but I'll think of something…
December 30, 2010 at 4:48 am
Ermey also hosted a TV show which answered viewers questions about military history, called "Mail Call", and now hosts a show about the history of weapons called "LockN'Load". The younger generation is probably most familiar with him as the voice of Sarge in the Toy Story films.

The reason why the administration sucks is because U.S. citizens, corporations, and government are greedy. That's forty years of trade deficits, casino capitalism, and total debt across the three groups. Meanwhile, Wall Street, which has been the actual power running the country (and from which government and citizens are dependent for easy credit and high wages) got to play casino capitalism, leading to $370 trillion in derivatives and citizens borrowing up to 120 pct of disposable income to buy (and even gamble on) houses, cars, and other goodies. Even the U.S. military is dependent on the arms industry and on foreign loans to continue operations, which during the same decades involved attacking other countries to control oil and other resources.

No respect for this Whimp in Chief toting his golf bag and arranging "death panels".

Where was all the outrage when George Bush ran up our national debt, pulled us into an expensive war that didn't make any of us safer, neglected the U.S. citizens in Louisiana and allowed human embreeyos to be destroyed…not to mention his father's appointment of Souter on the supreme court. The Republican Party is the biggest dissapointment of all. I can not help but ask, is the the indignant outrage because of our President's skin color? Because I certainly see a lot MORE reasons to be outraged at the mess that George Bush left this nation.

I wonder, "Saint Michael": at what point do you think the military should stop accepting whatever evil thing a civilian administration does, and start resisting it?
Or should the military just accept anything and everything civilian authorities say and do?
Like the Wehrmacht did in the 1930s and 1940s, maybe? There were a lot of Catholic officers in the Wehrmacht. A few of them did eventually resist (such as Von Stauffenberg). But not enough of them. I think most people would agree that the regular German Army, which had a lot of decent men in it, should have resisted a lot more, and a lot sooner, than they did.
So why would the same principle not apply in America?
"Saint Michael," I think you need to adopt a different handle. The warrior archangel you're named for is probably not impressed with you–assuming he bothered to notice.
(And Anonymous: stop trying to play the race card. It's getting old and tired, and it's obviously a just a political ploy. You also need to get your facts straight, which they aren't.)

Paul, thank you for bringing up the Nazi's, its an important part of any reasonable discussion, because we all know, any one we don't like is clearly a Nazi. More importantly, the day the military decides to ignore civilian authority in this great country, is the day this country becomes a military dictatorship, and I'm guessing you would be more unhappy with that, then a fairly moderate center-left president.

Anonymous #1, let SMCTOD speak, it's a free internet…for now. Disagree with him, refute him, don't just tell him to shut up.
Anonymous #2, your assertions about the private sector are partially right and partially wrong, and ignore the role government regulations had in screwing things up, along with the lack of real oversight. And since the government failed to enforce existing regulations, they want to now add more regulations, taking control of more of the economy.
Anonymous #3, please respect the office of the President. Like him or not, Obama is the President and the Commander in Chief.
Anonymous #4, Bush didn't run up the debt, Congress did. Blame all of them for that. Congress approved use of force in both Afghanistan and Iraq, with true bipartisan support in both instances. Measuring "safer" is impossible, but it is my belief that both wars have improved our security, along with freeing a lot of Iraqis from a horrible regime. Expense is a nonsensical issue in such a case. New Orleans residents were neglected by their local leaders, who are in charge of immediate response, like happened in the rest of the Gulf coast cities that got hammered. The human embryos were destroyed long before government funding was granted, and government funds were limited to research that involved no additional destruction of human life…a compromise that allowed the research to advance without killing more embryos (I don't think the research needs to be done with human embryos, personally, and think this is bad research to support, but I understand his attempt at finding a moral solution). Souter was a disappointment, but after Bork I can understand why H.W.Bush would go for someone like Souter.
The Republican party is a huge disappointment.
In answer to your only question that included proper punctuation, "No, it has nothing to do with skin color, it's about policy."
Oh, and I'd like to point out that the "mess" left by Bush primarily came about in his last 2 years, which amazingly coincides with Democrats taking control of both the House and the Senate.
Anonymous #5, Paul is merely using Nazis to point out how regular soldiers have a duty and obligation to object to obviously immoral orders. Since no comparison is made between Nazis and anyone, Godwin's law doesn't apply.
Please explain how the current President is "fairly moderate".

Matthew Siekierski, you are blinded by your own partisanship. You don't have to follow the teachings of partisan hacks. God gave you your own brain, so use it on more than punctuation.

The Pope only endorses the Republican Party and unregulated capitalism because the Pope knows that big companies and huge corporations only have the interests of middle income Americans in mind. Government is the the enemy. We don't need police, military or social security. I hate government! Just keep your hands off my medicare!

Harry Truman was the President of the United States when I was born.
I was taught our Commander in Chief is always to be respected, and our Military is his muscle in defending our borders.
Any Military served was left where I received it; in the Military.
My service to America in the public sector is one I am proud of. Every day, people draw benefit from some of the things I have done as a Roman Catholic man and U.S. Citizen.
It is sad to see and hear people use their Military status to qualify their weak positions in life.
I stand on my own two feet and don’t need a Military position, Lodge membership, or white skin to make me who I am.
Saint Michael the Archangel and many others of the Saints have come to our aid when called upon.
“…"Saint Michael," I think you need to adopt a different handle. The warrior archangel you're named for is probably not impressed with you–assuming he bothered to notice….
‘
The next time he is around, for your gratification, I will ask him what he thinks about me. His actions towards me have proven friendly, and I have never thought to ask. I might be surprised.
We should be so well known by the angels and the saints, one day when we die, rather than seeing the Angel of Death, we will see one of our friends come for us to take us home.
Never tell a man his wife is ugly or fat, and never throw your military service in the face of Citizens; they’ve paid for the uniform you wear.
And when you are done with it, fold it neatly and give it back; a hundred other guys after you will need it.

Pretty weak sauce. Ermey should stick to Geico commercials.

Anonymous, to what partisanship on my part are you referring, and for which part of my response? Oh…you were stung by the comment about punctuation, so you must be Anonymous #4, in which case I must be a partisan hack because I defended Bush (sort of). Would you like me to attack him? Very well…Bush didn't wield the Veto pen enough, and should have reined in the Republican Congress that was spending our money like drunken Democrats. His administration was lax on enforcing regulations that could have mitigated or prevented some of the economic ruin that came from the housing market bubble bursting.
Now, can you speak to any of the points in my previous post or this one, or would you rather continue to just label me a partisan defender of Republicans (who I labeled a disappointment).
