A grand jury in Pennsylvania is saying that the state failed to perform its job of oversight over abortion clinics.
The Blaze reports:
A filthy abortion mill where prosecutors say babies were delivered alive and killed with scissors would have been shut down long ago if not for extraordinary failures by state regulators, who had not inspected it since 1993, a grand jury report charges.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, a family practice physician with no certification in gynecology or obstetrics, was charged Wednesday with eight counts of murder in the deaths of seven babies and one patient. Nine employees also were charged, including four with murder.
In its report, the grand jury said failures of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and other agencies allowed Gosnell’s “house of horrors” to persist for decades, with baby body parts on the shelves and clogging the plumbing, a 15-year-old high school student performing intravenous anesthesia, and Gosnell’s wife, a cosmetologist, performing late-term procedures.
“Had state and local officials performed their duties properly, Gosnell’s clinic would have been shut down decades ago,” the grand jury wrote. “If inspectors had looked solely for violations of Pennsylvania’s abortion regulations, there would have been ample grounds to revoke the approval of Gosnell’s clinic as an abortion provider — as was demonstrated when DOH inspectors finally entered the facility in February 2010.”
Any thoughts on why so many officials turned a blind eye to this horror show of a medical clinic?
Why would anyone expect anything different? The abortion industry is one of the largest donors to Democrat politicians and organizations like Planned Parenthood receive millions and millions in taxpayer money, from federal, state and local levels.
As long as the abortion industry and the Democratic Party, which runs a large majority of cities including Philadelphia, are scratching each other’s backs why would we ever expect any real oversight?
Look at those videos put out by Live Action which shows abortion clinic workers lying and breaking the law as boldly and plainly as can be. But nothing is done.
The Democratic Party is constantly calling for MORE OVERSIGHT, MORE REGULATIONS. They say it was a lack of regulations and oversight which caused the housing collapse and the economic downturn. But when it comes to the abortion industry, it’s laissez faire. It’s the Wild West and nobody but a precious few in government are saying anything.
Here’s a sick question? Does anyone really believe that Dr. Gosnell’s clinic is that out of the ordinary? Do you really believe that murdering babies after they’re out of the womb is an anomaly? Because I don’t believe it is. But we won’t know until there’s some oversight which isn’t going to happen any time in the near future.

"Abortion Horrors" – is there any other kind (of abortion i.e.)?

The dirtiest little secret is that legalized abortion is no "safer" than back-alley abortions. The doctors who resort to doing abortions full-time are the flunkies who could not make it in the mainstream practices of medicine. The records are not mandated to be reported to the state because of "confidentiality". And like you pointed out, politicians will turn a blind eye to the abortion industry because they are afraid of what they will find. Abortion mills are not the shiney, sterile, professional, safe harbors they claim to be. The industry does not care about women. They care about the bottom line.

credocatholic, there are some abortion clinics that are good clinics (in the professional idea that you would expect from any type of clinic). There are some that are exceptionally clean and sterile, do have professionals on staff, do have truly caring individuals (misdirected care, but caring nonetheless). Reading unPlanned by Abby Johnson is a testament to that. However, this story about this abortionist is astonishing. I read through the Grand Jury report and I'm just astonished that so many people worked in this clinic. How in the world did they sleep at night? Does their soul not stir with anguish of what they've done and seen?
I see God's hand in this report coming out at this time though. Reminds me of the scripture of how we're not to hide evil, we're to shine a light on it. This report, however ugly and make-you-want-to-vomit horrendous it is, is a light on the filth.

I did read Unplanned. Abby Johnson left because her eyes were opened to what the abortion industry was attempting to do at her clinic, forcing them to increase the numbers of abortions, requiring them to cut staff, building bigger clinics that would allow for later-term abortions, giving them a bigger profit margin. She was the holdout, and when she realized not only what she was participating in, but that the management at the top did not have the best interests of the women as their top priority, she left.

Good abortion clinics? Exceptionally clean and sterile? Professionals on staff? Truely caring individuals? How can anyone who works in a hell on earth be any nof those things? And clean and sterile? So is a honest death chamber at a state or federal prison!

I further offer this article in defense of my position that being a full-time abortionist is usually a last resort, and therefore not where the best and the brightest doctors end up:

Bothers me most is this guy is not alone in this crime. There are the mothers that were all too eager for this man to perform this function to their own child. There are the office personnel that stood idly by or also helped with the procedure while a small child was decapitated by a heartless man. There is also the insurace companies or government monies allocated to pay the bill.

Would better oversight of this clinic have saved lives? It certainly would have saved the lives of some of these mothers, and MAYBE even some of these babies.
But who is going to take on the job of enforcing these regulations? This case seems to indicate that pro-choicers don't want to do it since they'd rather keep the whole issue as far under the radar as possible. But I wonder whether pro-lifers would be able to do it either — wouldn't that consistitute endorsement of or cooperation in abortion, or enabling of abortion clinics to continue to operate?
Seriously, could a pro-life officeholder or head of a regulatory agency MORALLY decide to pursue strict enforcement of applicable health and safety regulations for abortion clinics — assuming that they had no legal authority to prevent or reduce abortions in any other way — without thereby lending legitimacy or endorsement to abortion?

The putrified face of Kermit Gosnell charged in the murder of eight born alive infants is sickening. Jesus died for his soul, except that I gag. The murder of every child is exposed on Kermit Gosnell's face.
