I read Marcel Lejeune’s book Set Free to Love and it’s great.
I’m an idiot so I tend to stay away from heavy duty theology books but I read this, enjoyed the heck out of it, and I understood everything (I think.) Marcel has a real gift for making grand concepts into easily understandable and relate-able real life stories.
Now, I’ve seen all the debate and arguments about the Theology of the Body but always stayed out of it because I know there’s a lot of stuff I didn’t know. Marcel’s book is really pretty awesome because it’s not only an interesting read it’s beautiful to read how TOB changes peoples lives.
Marcel’s site says:
Discover the theology of the body—your life will never be the same.
Each of the stories in Set Free to Love will help you hear the same call to live out the gift of love in your own life, in your own way. These are stories from Catholics in all walks of life, including college students, married persons, professionals, and clergy. The conversions include struggles with pornography, abortion, sexuality, same sex attraction, and issues in married life and the priesthood, revealing how the theology of the body brought about extraordinary change in each person’s life.
If this subject interests you at all you really should check out Marcel’s book Set Free to Love. I talked about it so much that my wife is also reading it now and enjoying it. And if you knew how difficult it is to get my wife to read stuff like this you’d be impressed.

Lol. I hope you don't mind. It's hard coming up with something new every week – especially when I'm not much of an "expert" myself! Sometimes I really wonder what the heck I was thinking when I decided to start this series.

Matt – thanks for the nice pub. The book is just what you described – accessible to those who won't approach TOB, because it can be pretty hard to grasp.
BTW – my head just swelled a bit by reading this. But, don't worry for me – my wife and kids will take care of it.

Would you recommend this book for non-Catholic niece who is about to get married?

A priest once counseled me: "Pray with your body" He does. I am learning.

You humility is sincere; I sense it in your words. Because of that, your writings are authentic, refreshing and helpful.
Know however that there are other ways of deepening in the knowledge of God. A vibrant relationship leads to knowing Him as opposed to knowing about Him or about His ways.
I didn't mean to sermonize but you may know God more than professional theologians.
And BTW, most saints are jolly too – like yourself.
