This has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. Honestly. It’s been shown that President Obama’s administration was all over the map on this Egypt thing, to the point of seeming foolish.
But Thomas Friedman of the New York Times said that because Obama’s like the awesomest President like ever, even his incompetence gives gifts for millions. You’ve got to check this out. Friedman writes:
In the end, President Obama made a hugely important but unintended contribution to the democracy revolution in Egypt. Because the Obama team never found the voice to fully endorse the Tahrir Square revolution until it was over, the people in that square now know one very powerful thing: They did this all by themselves. That is so important. One of the most powerful chants I heard in the square on Friday night was: “The people made the regime step down.”
This sense of self-empowerment and authenticity — we did this for ourselves, by ourselves — is what makes Egypt’s democracy movement such a potential game-changer for the whole region.
Wow. That’s all the NY Times could come up with? That’s like me telling my kids, “Hey remember when I went missing all last month because I was on a bender, well that has taught you to make your own lunches and live with complete strangers in a foster care setting. So you see it’s just a big ol’ gift to you that you’ve learned to be independent. Come on kids, I didn’t abandon you, I empowered you.”
How do you think that would go over?

What kind of person takes credit for doing nothing? What kind of people would give such a person credit?
Anon7:18: From what I read, the koranimals raped her while yelling "Jew! Jew!"

The reports said "sustained sexual assault" coupled with the word "brutal." That certainly sounds like rape. Her head was uncovered, which apparently incited them to fury. I'm sure they pegged as an infidel in general, jew or christian.
These are the punks Obama says "must be listened to." But the tea party, they're "crazy."

Dear GOd deliver us from this incompetent and evil clown in the White House. He is giving men –well maybe he doesn't qualify, his wife looks like she wears the pants in that family, at least she outweighs him– anyhow, this is what happens when you send a child to do an adult's job.

Matthew,
I would have defended Friedman if he'd gone another way with his column: Obama gives a gift to US by decidely NOT assuming yet again that the US is the world's policeman. No costly endless wars. No costly media campaign to show that Mubarak was more dangerous than any other dictator in the Middle East. No costly sale to the Catholic vote that somehow an invasion is justified by, well, you know, just blinking. No costly UN scareshow to come up with other excuses to invade Egypt. No costly effort to show that Islam and democracy need each other like a fish needs a bicycle. So in the end, you see, Mr. Obama saved the US a ton of money by bumbling around for way to turn a cause celebre into a raison d'etre. The same sort of federal inaction that could have benefited the economy. The same sort of inaction by the Droopalong Cassidy-McCain campaign that led to Obama's election in the first place.
JOB

Too funny! "…hugely important but unintended contribution…" In his own words, he makes Obama look like an idiot even though he is desperately trying to spin it. Doesn't work. He's basically saying that Obama is so great because of the accidental circumstances in which he continues to find himself and not because of anything he's ever done. Isn't that how he got elected? Oprah HAPPENED to latch on to him.

I have to agree with JOB here. Thanks God our idiot President didn't do anything.
We don't have the guts to endorse actual democratic movements in this region of the world because of our fear of "Islamo-facism". But guess what, its not our call. Let the Egyptains, Bahrainis, etc. come up with and live under whatever governments they want.
Ignorning the Middle East is the best thing the US could do for them and for ourselves.

Obama the Ineligible strikes again. The effort to conceal that he is not a natural born citizen of the U.S. is starting to slip. It's not where he was born – that is the distraction – it's the fact that both his parents were not American citizens at the time of his birth. That makes him ineligible under Article II of the Constitution. We have an anti-president in the White House.
