The Blurb on this video says:
With the new Mass translations coming out this year, the “Gather” hymnal will sadly become obsolete. With that in mind, I composed a tribute medley to some of the best songs contained therein. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a hymnal around when I was tracking this, so I did the best I could to remember the lyrics from memory. Enjoy!
So you know what you are getting. Good stuff.
Boy, I love singing as God in the first person. I am sure God does too. BTW, the Brady Bunch one made me laugh out load. And I would gladly be God’s sherpa, or something.

What you might find troublesome is that there are people who would love this video for what it is. They'll love the graphic and the music. I just don't get why they would though.

LOL!

I don't know why, but these Modern songs make my insides ache. I cringe when I hear them. I wish our parish would get someone who loves at least some of the traditional hymns.

Excellent! I too cringe when I hear them. One day last year my daughter came home from kindergarten after learning "Here I Am Lord" (which our parish seems to sing incessantly) she told me she didn't know the name of the song, but there were "a lot of I's in it. I this and I that." Gosh, if a five-year-old can see through it so easily, why can't everyone?

Give me the courage to endure the song….

you WILL get an invitation to lead the youth worship somewhere.

The new translation does not affect the hymns…….unfortunately!!!!

Dear Anonymous (2:31),
Actually, the new "Order Of Mass" does have some interesting changes in the wording of the Opening Antiphon, Offetory, and Communio.
See this commentary for details.

That Jesus looks like Liam Neeson.

The only thing I would like to "gather in" is all the guitars worldwide for a gigantic bonfire.

"Opening Antiphon, Offertory and Communion Antiphons" are "Propers"….not hymns……and you won't find them in Gather!

The only song missing was "Lord of the Dance"… *shudders*

Dear Anonymous (9:16),
Exactly!
That's what's so encouraging about the instructions for these parts of the Mass in the upcoming translation. (See the URL above.) They are much more prescriptive of what is to be sung. I hope that these will be read and not ignored. I have hopes, but I won't hold my breath.

Best laugh I've had all day! Last week I had to sing "Gather" 3 times at 3 different Masses. Do ya think that, after 2000 yrs, there is some OTHER music that we could sing during Mass???
