MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur has the name of a Middle Earth orc. And he has the philosophy of one too.
He said yesterday that the unborn babies would want their mothers to have the right to abort them.
His argument about us not being able to determine the gender of the baby as a reason to declare that the baby isn’t human is one of the dopiest arguments I’ve ever heard. So our lack of scientific know-how makes the baby not human? Or how about his ingenious argument that if babies don’t yet have a mouth they can’t be human. Huh?
If only Cenk Uygur didn’t have a mouth we’d all be better off. How about we let the babies decide for themselves. I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we wait until the baby’s born and ask them?

Uygur's concluding punch-line contradicted his main argument.
"Could you please get out of my mother's uterus." The reporter should've used the term 'carrier/host' rather than mother since it's not even a person… only a blob of tissue.

I'm thinking if it had a voice it would say to the abortionist, "Could you please get out of my mother's uterus.

"MSNBC Orc Says Babies Wanna' Die"
No, he didn't.
"He said yesterday that the unborn babies would want their mothers to have the right to abort them."
No, he didn't.
He said that unborn children are not persons. We can disagree with that. He also said that they are unable to testify in court (as we would commonly define testifying).

He didn't say "human", he said "person".
As for "get out of my mother's uterus", that could be taken as a "pro-choice" argument (like "get your government out of my body"), or simply as a "hey, reporter, get out of my mother's uterus" comment, since Cenk said "Now, we reached out to the fetus to see if he or she wanted to come on the show."

Are you sure that's not Rachel Maddow?

I am not understanding the distinction that Jeffrey is making between human and person. The first word in the definition for "person" on Merriam Webster is "human." Explanation?
March 4, 2011 at 3:38 pm
Umm, saying unborn babies would want their mother to have the right to abort them Jeffery, means the baby would WANT to die because that is the effect of wanting their mother to have the right to abort them, they would have to be okay with being killed. If we are going to go into the definition of "personhood" (which is ridiculous to me) but if we are, the law can call Corporations persons. So if we are not to kill only persons, then a Corporation should never go out of business because that would be killing it. I guess we can only kill humans, right?? So stupid. HUMANS should NOT BE KILLED!

I also wanted to add that there is a new technology that allows you to find if it's a boy or girl very early on. I think it's 8 weeks. So, his argument isn't spot on even at that.

Well, on ultrasounds, babies have been seen sucking on their fingers, playing with their twin (in the case of multiples), trying to escape from pain during an abortion. Has anyone ever seen a pre-born baby do anything self-destructive or suicidal? So, how can they argue that babies want to commit suicide via the mother's decision?

One thing's for sure – he needs teleprompter lessons from Obama.

An amniocentesis can determine sex easily.

Anonymous @ March 4, 2011 10:17 AM — I'm sure that to some people, the terms "human being" and "(human) person" are not interchangeable, and they would argue that a human doesn't become a person until they are born. (Some would argue even further, that they are not a person unless they are wanted!) I'm not supporting Cenk, I'm just trying to clarify what he did and did not say. Do we know for a fact that he considers "human (being)" and "(human) person" to be synonymous?
Sue @ March 4, 2011 10:38 AM — "saying unborn babies would want their mother to have the right to abort them"
Cenk didn't say that. He didn't say that fetuses or unborn babies would want their mother to have the right to abort them. Here's the transcript:
—-
Just when you thought you'd heard it all, a nine-week old will, quote, "testify", in Ohio. The fetus is reportedly in favor of a bill that would outlaw abortions as soon as doctors can detect the first heartbeat, which by the way could be as early as 18 days, when many women have no idea whether they're even pregnant yet. By all accounts, the fetus will be the youngest ever to testify. That's because he or she is not really testifying, because he or she is not really a person yet. In fact, at that point, we don't even know whether he or she is a he or she. You know what else hasn't formed at that point? Their mouth. Making it a little hard to testify. But goofball Republicans have wheeled in a woman, done an ultrasound, and listened to the heartbeat of the fetus in the womb.
If the bill is enacted, it would be the first, I'm sorry, it would be the most restrictive abortion law in the country. Now, we reached out to the fetus to see if he or she wanted to come on the show, but it did not say anything, because it does not have a mouth. But if it could talk, I'm pretty sure it would say, "Could you please get out of my mother's uterus?"

The only statement he attributed to an unborn baby was the bolded phrase at the end.

"In fact, at that point, we don't even know whether he or she is a he or she."
Sounds like a very unenlightened sexist view of gender. Since when do liberals think there is any correlation between biological gender and our human identity?
March 4, 2011 at 7:35 pm
If these babies are suicidal, don't abort them, give them prozac before they are born! A very grim LOL!
March 4, 2011 at 10:50 pm
Jeffery,
The implication of saying, "get out of my mother's uterus," is that the baby wants to be aborted. And yes, to a pro-lifer, a human and a person are the same thing. It is ridiculous to day they are not. It seems you have bought into the "non-person" argument. I am curious, since you are so busy defending the guys use of language to make sure we stupid people don't misunderstand, where do you stand on abortion? At the end of the day, pro-aborts use language to deceive and mask the real issue of murder. Is the baby a "person" to you? Just wondering.

Jeffrey,
Your supposed distinctions betray a very small mind.

Jeffrey,
As long as we're being sure what the unborn baby would say, if he could talk: Please see Elm's comment at 8:02 am, March 4.
Enough said.
