Liberalism is a religion. We all know that.
Liberals treat spending like the Pope treats doctrine, like its indispensable or something.
So I was thinking, what is a religion without some catchphrases?
Catchphrases of Liberaligion:
Turn the other check. Make it payable to the IRS…
To spend is human – to spend other people’s money–divine.
Blessed are the meek – for you shall inherit their debt.
Who needs purgatory when you have chapter 11?
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what redistribution promises to deliver, nor will they.
I am not worthy to enter under my roof, but Fanny Mae gave me a mortgage anyway.
Reparations ain’t what they used to be.
I will tear down this temple and in three days I will have several shovel ready jobs–building a mosque.
We threw the money lenders out of the Temple–all the way to China.
Render unto Caesar–that is all.
Unlicensed Samaritans will be prosecuted.
Wherever two or more are gathered, there is a union for that.
“There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate. And the Father said “Dude, are you kidding? I spent that in 2009.”

Redistribution is a tenet of Catholic social teaching. Doesn't say the government has to be in charge of it, but its in there. Gotta be careful you don't get Hannity's talking points with the Pope's. They ain't the same.
(Yes, the Church does teach that there is a point where you're making too much money).

Catholicity, can you point me to the doctrine to which you are referring?
Voluntarily giving money to the poor is not redistribution.
How much money does the Church say I can make in a year?

I have another one courtesy of the wit of Joseph Ratzinger many years ago:
"Look not on the sins of your Church, but on our faith."

The Church has always respected work and the absolute right under God for someone to keep the fruits of his labor (that "thou shalt not steal" matter), no matter what Bishop Weakland said.
GREAT post!

Liberalism has always demanded charity at gunpoint. It's time to turn the gun back toward them so they can feel the 'joy' we feel when we're forced to 'give'.

Catholicity,
As a Catholic priest, I can assure you that you are 100% wrong on both counts. The Church does not nor has she ever taught redistribution of wealth. Yes, the wealthy have a moral duty to provide for the less fortunate on a voluntary basis, but not by secular compulsion. Indeed, those pushing for redistribution of wealth may well be sinning by envy. The Church has affirmed the right to possess material goods (as a tenet of our social teaching) and did so explicitly against the redistribution doctrine of the communists. And the Church has never taught that someone cannot make more than a set amount of money. Never. I think you have fallen for liberal talking points.
