Another great video from Fr. Barron and his Word on Fire peeps.
Also, Fr. Barron wrote a piece for the Washington Post concerning Libya and the Just War Tradition. Definitely worht a read.

I'm surprised that Fr. Barron believes in Evolution. I wonder what he means by that? Not that I believe in young earth or anything, but I have trouble believing that the progression of life in the world is simply mutational. Adaptation maybe, but evolution, no.

Hmmmmm, not one of his more clear presentations me thinks. Being resigned to God's will is hardly comparable to the chinaman's "we'll see" situation is it?

Hmmmm the lie that God uses divine retribution on people is in the bible? REALLY? What about Jonah being commanded by God to go tell Nineveh that he will destroy them unless they repent, or the whole of exodus. Noah? Sodom and Gomorrah anyone!? Fr. Barron is clearly wrong on this. God's Justice and his need to punish evil is love, and if we read the messages from the Blessed Virgin in Akita Japan it might be too far a stretch to say that this could possibly be God's justice, and justice that would hopefully lead to a greater good. I do like Fr. Barron but this seemed to be one of the instances where he too often takes a secular appeasing approach to theology.
Also on a side note, does any find some of his film, television reviews disturbing, like his glowing review of Fargo. I watched the movie after seeing it and had to go to confession afterwards because it was way too raunchy. Not to mention his review of the Sopranos and other such tv series/movies.

Andy,
I think when you're listening to a priest or someone of faith and they say they believe in evolution, it's assumed that they mean evolution as a device of God's plan; not random mutation.

I don't care for Fr Barron. He's against the use of the death penalty. As far as I'm concerned, he's a "Bernadin Boy" trying to pass himself off as a traditional priest.

@Blue Shoe, you're probably right. I was brought up in a secular home and I went to public schools, and I was almost 30 before I even considered that (atheistic) evolution was ridiculous.
@scotju, We should be against the death penalty, in this day and age (especially in America) if we are faithful to God's Church. There is no reason to kill some people in a methodical way any more with the prison system that we have. We need to let God exact His justice when the threat to other people has been eliminated. God gives the gift of life and truly only he should take it away.
