The good news is that the decision is still in the hands of Americans to choose long lasting prosperity over doom. The bad news is that it’s still in the hands of Americans to choose. Come on, let’s face it, we’ve made some really poor decisions the last 40 years or so.
Good video from Paul Ryan. He lays out our two choices. Doom or prosperity? It’s truly up to us. And decision time is right now. If we punish the GOP for daring to talk about spending cuts we continue down the road to ruin.
Here’s the way I see it. I have great confidence in both parties to do the wrong thing here. Democrats are going to use Ryan’s budget as a cudgel to beat the Republicans over the head. Republicans are going to run away from Ryan’s budget plan for fear of getting cudgeled. So the only way to force Congress to cut spending is by speaking out for it. Constantly. And loudly. Make the GOP enact cuts. And make the Dems afraid to use it as a weapon. It’s uphill. We will be battling the worst instincts of both parties. And in politics it sometimes seems worst instincts are the only instincts.
America needs a game changer. It’s up to us.

Democrats under Pelosi and Reid failed to pass the budget for this year. Now they want to blame the Republicans, the Tea Party people, and anyone else that comes to mind…. just so they can stay in power. No more lies, no more excuses.

What is missing from this video and from this debate is a VIVID portrayal of the AGONY, the chaos, the starvation, and the unfathomable pains and suffering that the Unites States, and the world in general, will experience if we keep going on our present course.
It is great to explain why we need to make the cuts by saying, "Look, that line is going up!" But the average American truly DOESN'T understand what a "debt crisis" of this magnitude really means. Heck, a lot of very smart Americans have no clue what the impact will be.
Unless and until we start talking about the very real crushing poverty, the death tolls, the babies starving, the crime and collapse of society, the wars and so on which all WILL happen, then this budget has NO chance of ever seeing the light of day.
Paul Ryan is on the right track here and should be applauded for his smarts and guts.
Sadly, though, unless people start to picture in their minds the total collapse of American society, we will just keep marching off the cliff.
