A town in California has dropped the flag from their firefighter’s uniform. But don’t worry, they assure us, it has nothing to do with lack of patriotism. They just want everyone to match all pretty like. No, that’s seriously the reason.
No offense to our California readers but when that state finally does break off, let’s all just push it out a little further to sea. We’ll say it was an accident or something.

Since the Bakersfield fire department personnel can wear a flag on their pins, it seems that this option is still open to them, just in a different form.

Flags worn on the right sleeve are ALWAYS "facing the wrong direction" because they are supposed to look as if they are flying in the breeze when you are walking. If it is worn on the left shoulder, the flag would be facing the "right" direction.
This it has always been, including on the US military uniforms of today. A simple google search will show it.
Now that THAT mistake is cleared up, I'd like to know why the flag patches "wear out" any more quickly than the Bakersfield Fire Department patches that are still on the uniforms.

They should also remove their FD and name badges to show uniformity as well. Idiots.

Jenny is right. From the flag etiquette, I quote:
"When displaying the flag against a wall, vertically or horizontally, the flag's union (stars) should be at the top, to the flag's own right, and to the observer's left."
That said, even the military gets it wrong sometimes. I am a member of Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, and we wear the flag on our right shoulder, with the union to the right. We do hope that someday soon, CAP will correct this.

Obama does not wear the American flag while he repudiates our founding principles in the Declaration of Independence: that all men are CREATED equal. No sense in trying to be a patriot like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, like all of our founding fathers, our fallen war heroes, our veterans, astronauts, people, when a person could be come property of the state instead.

The flag's field on military uniforms are reversed to show the flag moving forward against the country's enemies, not retreating.
