How do you celebrate the 25th anniversary of something? Well, by everyone getting together and NOT doing what you did 25 years ago. Huh?
Well that is exactly what the the Church is doing to commemorate the infamous Assisi conference. 25 years ago, many of the world’s religions gathered together any prayed together. In order to celebrate this historic act, the Church has invited everyone back together to NOT pray together.>>>Continue Reading >>>>

Pope benedict is trying to repair Assisi as Gorbatchev tried to repair communism.
It won't work.
I have written about it here:

IMO, the issue with the Assisi World Day of Prayer is the potential for the kind of scandal described in this passage from the section on scandal in the Summa. The appearance of evil in the case of Assisi is religious indifferentism
"Thus, for instance, if a man were to "sit at meat in the idol's temple" (1 Corinthians 8:10), though this is not sinful in itself, provided it be done with no evil intention, yet, since it has a certain appearance of evil, and a semblance of worshiping the idol, it might occasion another man's spiritual downfall. Hence the Apostle says (1 Thessalonians 5:22): "From all appearance of evil refrain yourselves." " And the Summa says this is a sin against charity, even if it is only the appearance of evil.

And John Paul II did preach Christ there, but it gets lost in shuffle of all the other stuff going on.
"I profess here anew my conviction, shared by all Christians, that in Jesus Christ, as Saviour of all, true peace is to be found, "peace to those who are far off and peace to those who are near". His birth was greeted by the angels’ song: "Glory to God in the highest and peace among men with whom he is pleased". He preached love among all, even among foes, proclaimed blessed those who work for peace and through his Death and Resurrection he brought about reconciliation between heaven and earth. To use an expression of Paul the Apostle: "He is our peace.""
I'm not sure what good comes of these events, which is probably why no other Pope in history has held them.
