This is sickening.
President Barack Obama criticized Republicans with cheap shot after cheap shot yesterday in defending his budget ideas but this one really was just too outlandish to ignore. Obama said:
“One vision has been championed by Republicans in the House of Representatives and embraced by several of their party’s presidential candidates…This is a vision that says up to 50 million Americans have to lose their health insurance in order for us to reduce the deficit. And who are those 50 million Americans? Many are someone’s grandparents who wouldn’t be able afford nursing home care without Medicaid. Many are poor children. Some are middle-class families who have children with autism or Down’s syndrome. Some are kids with disabilities so severe that they require 24-hour care. These are the Americans we’d be telling to fend for themselves.”
Seriously? Barack “punished with a baby” Obama is defending children with disabilities when it’s his policies and his party’s embrace of death in the womb which has led to a 90% death rate for babies with Down Syndrome. But he’s their defender now? Gimme a break.
Is there any shame? Any?

We knew he had no shame.
This is truly sickening. Insurance won't pay for these services. What a crock. There are not many insurance companies out there that would pay for services for children with autism or Down's syndrome. They are usually left in the school's hands and we know what the schools are like.

A thought for Lent:
“When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

I was waiting for the story about reusing false teeth from a deceased sibling. But he outdid himself and went after something more dramatic. It makes soap operas look like classical Helenistic tragedies. It was the oratorical piece of a egotistical pyromaniac prancing around naked in a field of strawmen.

Perhaps the Anointed One got wind of Ann Coulter's latest commentary about the lengths Democrats go to keep government subsidization of the baby slaughterhouse aka Planned Butcherhood, so he decided to portray himself as an "angel" like Josef Mengele: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=286681

Nine out of ten, Mr. President. Nine out of ten Down's children never see the light of day.
To quote one of your supporters, "Have you no shame?"

Yeah, um in 2008 my daughter with DS was born and the nurses told me that she would never be able to get a job because she had DS and was medically uninsurable. She had to live in poverty to be allowed into Medicaid. What a kick in the but to say "don't have any hopes for your kid, doesn't matter what they are capable of….they have to rot so that the insurance companies can discriminate against them for larger profits"…..
Look at the budget battles in CA and FL and there are real risks that people with disabilities may lose their jobs and be forced from their homes and into institution – at a large social and economic cost. Imagine in 2011, instead of flying cars like the Jetsons we lock people up in cages because they are different like the dark ages.
Ask yourself this: if Medicaid were a block grant and the strapped state governments did not foot the rising medical inflation costs, how will a disabled person who may be making sub-minimum wage pay the difference? Even if the taxes cuts are stimulative enough to drive us to 98% unemployment many of these people would still be unemployed. In short, the Republican plan offers them no means of participating in America and Obama is right for calling the Republicans out on the carpet for it.

I think this is a very personal poke at Sarah Pallin and her son. Very tacky, low-ball politics.

Bring families with Down Syndrome children into this political fight is the lowest of low. The government does not provide any assistance for down syndrome. NONE. The President intentionally mislead the public for his own political gain. This makes me Sick!!!!

I think that most of the people posting do not really know or have a stake in the lives of people (children) with Down Syndrome (writer of this article, get the spelling right on the label!). My son was born with Down syndrome and we knew nothing about it. We would have done nothing if we did know. I'm not so sure the 95% figure that is being touted is completely true but I know it is high. People are afraid of what they can handle. I am afraid everyday of what I can manage but I am more afraid of what Republicans will do (or not do) for my son. We are lucky to have insurance that covers many if not most of our medical and therapy costs. The only insurance that we can not get because of his diagnosis is life insurance. That is probably thanks to the GOP! Sara Palin is hardly a champion of the Down syndrome community. She really doesn't know about the day-to-day struggles that her son will have. Obama is trying to make it easier for families or individuals with Down syndrome (and other such conditions) to get the fair shake they need. If you are so concerned for the well-being of those dealing with Down syndrome, get involved. Provide parental respit – it's a BIG job. Don't add to a blog or post a comment when you have no idea what families are going through on a daily basis!
