Carrie Underwood sang “How Great Thou Art” for a country music special “Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country,” which aired Friday night on CBS and it’s become a viral hit receiving over a million hits online. Pretty awesome. Wait. Not just pretty awesome. It’s better than Elvis awesome. Gotta’ watch.
I’m amazed CBS aired it.

And this my friends is why I listen to country.
Look at the faces of the audience. There were big ole country stars with tears in their eyes and it wasn't because Carrie can belt.

Okay – even though I don't love this style of singing (really dislike it, in fact), I still LOVE THIS! Why? Because it was sung with such LOVE and such heart!
Beautiful!

Saw this yesterday somewhere and, well, I think it's nice but I'm not feelin' the love everyone else is. But, it is nice that they humbly brought God to the forefront.

Did she finally admit to being Catholic? Or is she still denying it?

@Giovanni: Do you think that your question could be construed as gossip? Does it matter? Must we ask, or can we enjoy the song?

When my friend fwd me this video, i watched it and at the end, had mixed feelings about it.
This is not the style of music i prefer listening to. I thought this song was sung nicely, and with full love. BUT, This style of music, on Good Friday of all days????

Elvis rendition was better.

The concert did not take place on Good Friday. It took place on April 4th but aired on TV on Good Friday.

beautiful and with great love for our Creator. It's great to see someone using the talent God gave her to praise Him.

Dolly Parton, sang 'He's Alive,' at the 1989 CMA's only because she said she would not appear if she wasn't allowed to. I guess "the Name" was just too controversial. But, Dolly stood firm. And like Dolly's momma used to say, "I hope you get a blessin' out of it." I sure did.
Sweet Jeeesus!

I never thought I would hear a rendition of How Great Thou Art better than that of Elvis but Carrie knocked this one out of the park. It had to be heart felt and with spiritual guidance.

She obviously put her heart and sole into singing this song. I loved it. It was very moving! I agree with Giovanni above, does it really matter if she is Catholic (or Baptist or whatever, for that matter! and Good Friday was most appropriate)
