It’s poetry night tonight at the White House. First Lady Michelle Obama invited several poets, including rapper known as “Common” who has written about threats to shoot police and called for the “burn[ing]” of President George W. Bush.
In defending this, one loopy lib nut (Keli Goff of TheLoop21.com- whatever that is) compared this invitation to inviting the Pope to the White House. Yup. Pope Benedict is just like violence endorsing rapper “Common.” Guess why? The Sex Abuse Scandal, silly. Hey, at least she didn’t bring up The Inquisition.

This is why our children need to be taught debating skills, to actually engage in debate and to see why their positions, Catholic/Christian positions, are logical and hold up under scrutiny. Sadly, that woman in yellow just threw that pope remark out there as a question and the host tried, but did know how effectively to deal with it. People are more or less stymied at the absurdity of remarks such as this, and even though the papal comparison IS absurd, it throws people off and the truth continues to be obfuscated. The truth here being that this guy, Common, was not a good choice for the WH guest — everyone already knows about the Catholic Church's abuse scandal, so that was not said to get that truth out, it was said to obscure the main topic. Aggravating and below-board, but it's done routinely and to great effect. Having taught in elementary and middle schools, I see that you can't start too young to teach debating skills and critical thinking skills. Not just a lesson or two, but as a way of looking at the world around us and engaging it from a moral, logical base, rather than letting it (the culture, etc.) flow over us.

@Laura; You are correct. Obama does not salute the American Flag, does not recite the Declaration of Independence with our Creator endowed, unalienable rights, does not celebrate the National Day of Prayer, thinks it fine for a newly begotten human being to be put to death for the crimes of his parents, ending all jurisprudence, why would Obama support the sovereign personhood of each and every citizen who constitute his presidency, the sovereign authority of the police? Lord Acton said: Power corrupts, absolute power corrups absolutely. The sex-abuse victims escaped with their lives. The abortion victims were killed for the crime of their parents, and did not escape with their lives. Pope Benedict XVI has never given his blessing to sex abuse. Obama has given his blessing,(If Obama has a blessing to give) support and vote to aborting the child in the womb. How does Obama measure the virtue of Justice, virginity, integrity, sovereignty? How many inches is FREEDOM? How large does God create the soul? Patriotism is how heavy? Joy is what color? Innocence is square? but Obama will not allow any virtue into the United States, not his and definitely not ours.

Preside? Preside? The Pope didn't preside over sex abuse. The sex abuse happened, the sandal was cause by Bishops and the Pope confronted it. His Holiness no more presided over sex abuse than Lincoln did over slavery.

The Pope does not condon nor does he applaud the sexual abuse of children. The words "presided over" the biggest scandal implies guilt. The Pope did not give his consent to or will the crime of sexual abuse to happen. The code of canon law is the law of the sovereign state of the Catholic Church. Whereas, the rapper glorifies criminal behavior, seduces other persons' souls into glorifying criminal behavior and this is detrimental to the common good. Such celebration of crime is not permitted through free speech. Only the TRUTH is freedom of speech and press. Everything else is perjury in a court of law and evil must be sanctioned. Not only must evil be sanctioned, it cannot be paid for by the tax payers' money because it undermines the common good, our posterity, and the Law of the Land.
