This is seriously one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read. Rorate Caeli has the transcript of the interview with Herman Spronck, Dutch superior of the Salesians. You’ve got to read it, if only to be horrified.

This is horrifying!!! This priest and the superior should be removed from the priesthood!!
I don't know what to say. I'm speechless!
Isn't this something that the Vatican should be made aware of?

I am literally speechless!!
Can this possibly be true?
How am I going to face my work colleagues today? How do I explain the filth that infects my Church? How can I say with credibility that the Church is the Body of Christ on earth?
Why are they doing this?
Benedict, please speak.
Speak like you have never spoken before. Be angry. Express our anger and grief for us.
Christ have mercy on your Church.

The more deplorable thing is that, while people are hurting from these multiple abuses, and lives are ruined, people in com box can degrade this into a question of pre- or post- Vatican II.
Both the priests mentioned in this story have been taken out of the ministry. It relays that at the bottom of the article…For whatever that's worth…

DESPICABLE. It would be better if he were hurled into the sea with a millstone tied to his neck. In fact, that should be done on all those who sanction this foul behavior and all those who perpetrate the sin of pedophilia. Priests and bishops must not abuse their authority by molesting those who turn to them. If ever I take the Chair of St. Peter as Paul VII, I will have to clear out the rats that have infiltrated the Church. It may be time for another Inquisition, this time on the hierarchy itself.

Right now I am wavering between anger & disgust at what I read. What he said was horrible enough in & of itself. The fact that he is a Salesian makes what he said a betrayal on his part of everything Don Bosco stood for. Thank God the Salesians relieved Fr Herman Spronck of his duties & made it clear this is never welcome in their order.

Civil law states that a person is an "infant" until the age of eighteen. Until emancipation, a child's informed sexual consent is held in trust for him by God, by his parents and by the state. In other words, if any one lusts for an infant child he must get informed sexual consent from God, from the infant's parents and then from the state. The North American Man Boy Love Assn. tried and tries but has not. So, the these people need to get informed sexual consent from almighty God for exercising their lusts for children and legally minor infant children. Where I have written elsewhere everything else is sexual assault and battery, a crime, rape. Any person who claims the love of God as his own must love the other person's soul into heaven, graciously, generously giving and sacrificing himself so that the other person attains heaven, eternal joy with God. Scandalizing a person's soul while indulging one's own lust is hellish.

OMG! I can't believe this! Spronck goes on and on about the law, just like the Pharisees, but for Christ's sake [literally], what about the MORAL law that he's supposed to uphold?? (BTW Matt, thanks for the heads up on the barf thing–I think I've got one of those bags from the airlines lying around.)

We were in Amsterdam in October of last year. In this very nice business hotel was big book about Dutch life and history. It said that the Dutch have always been protective of people's rights, including homosexuals and prostitutes, and gave historical examples. Then is said that the Legislature would like to lower the age of consent for sex to 12—
Seems that it isn't just people in the Church who are going looney here—

I don't understand the shock in these comments. Disturbing – Yes. Surprising – No. The priesthood still has a lot of filth in it (per Cardinal Ratzinger), and that will not change in my lifetime.

@Gen X Revert: The Vatican was topheavy with prelates who refused to obey, literally refused to obey, held him in contempt and ridiculed Pope John Paul II. Pope John Paul II would rise from the meetings with them and leave to the chapel where he prayed the rosary. When asked "WHY?" Pope John Paul II said that for him to do anything would bring open schism that would scandalized the whole church, and split the Catholic Church in two. It is proper to understand that when a person is in mortal sin he has outlawed himself from the church. Spronk may have been ordained but he does not love nor serve the Catholic Church. The difference here is that the people have called for Spronk and Fawhatever van to be removed and let us step up the good work. Our Lady deserves clean. Maybe sodomy is not intercourse. Sodomy is abuse and disordered assault and battery upon a minor "infant" child. Since the 60's love and lust have been badly misinterpreted. The differences obliterated. Only holy men know the sacrifices they make and this is why they make them: to be like Jesus.

It was Pope John Paul II's prayer that the giant sleeping laity would rise up and rescue the Catholic Church. I believe Pope John Paul II's prayer is being answered.
