The single most amazing thing. I don’t know what else to say about this. This is possibly the coolest most amazing thing I have ever seen on the Youtubes.
How they pulled this off, I do not know. My hat is off to Grand Rapids!!!!

That was neat to see Jimmy Akin at the 6:30 mark.

Just saw this below my sister's video of forgiveness. CMR has invaded my world!! Welcome to my hometown! Pretty great, isn't it? 🙂

When I heard this video described (on another blog), it didn't sound like a big deal. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of people lip-syncing to American Pie, with a long continuous shot. Doesn't sound that cool. But watching it — WOW!!! I can't imagine the amount of planning and the number of takes must have been necessary to get this right.
However, I wonder why they didn't use the original version of American Pie. Copyright issues maybe? It does sound like Don McLean singing (though I might be wrong), but I am pretty sure it is not the original version of the song.

Stu – that wasn't Jimmy, it was Mark Shea.

I looove seeing downtown Grand Rapids! It's beautiful (and a lot of fun! 😉 I grew up just a few miles away from where this was shot. This video features several local tv & radio personalities, politicians, and personal friends of mine as musicians & dancers. Steve & Bethany's (in the red dress) swing dancing rocked!!! Way to represent Grand Rapids Original Swing Society (GROSS)!!!

Aahhhhhhh!!!
Stu and LarryD,
I thought it was Mark Shea as well, not Jimmy Akin, unless Jimmy ate Mark.
…and it's at the 6:27 mark.

Watching the "making of" video was pretty cool, too!
I think they used a "live version" of the song so it was cooler when he asked everyone to help out on the chorus 🙂
Thanks for posting…
