It happens all the time in movies. The snarling bad guy is cornered by the good guys so he grabs some poor hapless victim, puts a gun to their head, and tells everyone to back off or he’ll hurt the poor hapless victim.
Well, believe it or not that’s what’s happening right now between President Obama and pro-lifers. And sorry, but Obama’s the snarling bad guy.

Go Indiana! Prayers on the way…
There are charities to help the poor. The Catholic Church is the number one provider of social services in this country outside of the federal government. If this does go through and Indiana stands strong, maybe we could petition the USCCB to start a national collection for the Catholic Charities in IN to help the poor? That's a work of charity for those in need. Abortion could never qualify under that description.

Does this mean the sick would not get the help they need or that Indiana's state government would be forced to pay the entire cost of its own budget? In any case the federal gov't acts like a rogue charity that forces conversion for life-saving food and medical care, but so long as the instructions aren't "religious," we are supposed to not notice. On that note: "do not mix reproach with your good deeds." (Sirach 18:15)

A very stupid move, if you ask me.
If I were a recipient of federal programs/funds in Indiana, I wouldn't be pleased to know that Obama is using them as a pawn to further his feminist agenda. If I lived anywhere else in the US, I'd start to wonder how long before it happens to me. And I would, more likely than not, have voted for him in 2008.
I wonder if he has thought carefully about this. Here in Europe you never see a leftist threatening to cut public funds for the sake of a political agenda. They know that angering your own political clientele is just plain stupid.
