A video is out that seems to be from Fr. Corapi saying that he’s quitting the priesthood. New Advent has the link above the fold. This would be a heartbreaking turn of events.
Some suspect that this isn’t actually Fr. Corapi. There does seem to be some issues with the audio. But check it out. Let me know. If it’s a fraud, it’s a pretty good one that someone went to a lot of trouble to put up. If it’s true it’s really sad.
Update: Yeah, it seems like it’s him. There’s a link to his new site from Fr.Corapi.com
His new site is theblacksheepdog.us
Update2: I gotta’ tell you watching it again I can’t help but think it’s kinda’ icky that he used this message to plug a new venture -this blacksheepdog thing. Am I right? Isn’t that a bit icky after all this talk and prayer to have this.
I feel kinda’ like Ralphie from a Christmas story who after waiting forever for a message from Annie all he got was a crummy commercial “Be Sure to drink your ovaltine.“

"Corapi was awarded $2,712,281 (USD) for his role as a whistleblower in the False Claims Act Lawsuit as well as the $500,000 USD he and his friend were awarded for the insurance case they filed." From Corapi's website. Where did the money go John?

It is not an uncommon event to hear about a priest sinning and having to go on retreat for a time. What is making this story so much different then the rest?
From the transcript…he won't confess to doing something he didn't, and those above him want it to stay in the nothing-state.
It's not odd to hear about a priest accused of something, often on really obviously bad grounds, and then the poor Father sets there for months or years before they come back and say "you're fine, all clear! Have fun clearing your name, since we've treated you like you were guilty for the last however long and it's been announced far and wide that you were accused!"
Even a large group of the people here are assuming he's guilty, even though his order's original announcement specifically says that the suspension means nothing like that.

Mostly his order. You REALLY didn't look very closely, did you? Too much fun to accuse a priest of scandalous behavior to do a little research? Ye lords and ladies of little green apples….

Pray for him, but do not follow where he has presently gone.

Registration of the name blacksheepdog a year ago – His accuser selling his Rosary Beads on the Net to raise money so she can start her own Ministry – His book denouncing certain Clergy about to be published which he started about a year ago – same time as the registration of the trade mark blacksheepdog – This is another Martin Luther out to do harm to the Church and I would not be surprised he gets married – probably to his accuser or like Luther an ex Nun = I always suspected Corapi – a Priest that carries a weapon and uses it is not true to his calling – Now EWTN's newspaper is investigating his behaviour – No surprises Corpai – you can fool some people….etc –

People strike back sometimes when they are being blasted! Some people can handle it while others… it can make them bitter and strike back. Does that make them lesser of a devoted Catholic? Maybe mental illness surfaces during these times. This whole thing seems to be snowballing out of control. Anonymous, I feel that you are out of line in your comments and projections! Corapi is an injured and wounded individual. He may just be fed up with life for now. I am not an avid follower of his, but I do hear and see him as the walking-wounded right now. I have great compassion for hurting people, as I am one also. People do not always act right when they are attacked. We need to show kindness and mercy toward him. We want the same treatment from our Dear Lord, do we not? You can think the nasty stuff, but you don't have to speak it or write it! Lord, Have Mercy On Us All!

The money went to his order?
Maybe you should do a little research and very carefully read about John's financial relationship with his order. Read this very carefully: http://www.ncregister.com/father-corapis-bombshell.html
It's all about the money and someone's pride!

Maybe you should read a bit more carefully, Anon– that's talking about the business , not the lawsuit award.
Or you could, you know, read this very blog and find that your "research" could have consisted of looking at the main page.
On an aside, I don't much care for the way the reporter puts words in the mouth of the Father in charge of the order, among other issues.

I know these comments sort of stopped two days ago, but I just listened to "Fr." Corapi's
'signing off' comments, and am very troubled by them–I am planning to convert from Lutheranism to Catholicism next Easter, and I take the admonitions of our Lord, to leave all retaliation up to God, who demands we do so, as well as for us to forgive even our enemies, and do good things for them, and pray for them–
–yet, his tone is one of defiance against the authorities the Lord has seen fit to place over him in the Church–that smacks so much of what Martin Luther did–I've told others that I believe Luther never loved the Church, that ultimately belongs to Christ, enough to stay, and 'take it on the chin' if neccessary, in order to do the will of the Lord first, relying on HIM to work 'behind the scenes' to see him through the ugliness–
—St. Paul told us we fight not against 'flesh and blood' in this world, so "Fr." Corapi needs to put his feelings on the very back burner, then humbley submit, as the Lord would have him do, to the authorities He has placed over him in HIS Church–not come out swinging and fighting 'tooth and nail' against what he perceives, or can even see, as injustice being done to him, and to others as well–
–plus, if he had seen this coming even last year, and even realized what might happen if he tried to expose some within the Church's heirarchy in some book he was writing, shame on him–that's no way to love the Church Christ loves, and that's no way to expose her 'dirty laundry' in full view of the hostile people in the public-at-large, who are just waiting with near-baited breath to trash her even more than they already do!–
–being a protestant still, I can attest to the trash-talk that goes on in various protestant online communities concerning the Catholic Church–and, the Church does not need, nor deserve, any more fuel added to the public fire against her!!!–
–please, "Fr." Corapi, reconsider, live up to your professed love of Christ and HIS CHURCH, and do not do as Luther did–because, souls need to find the way of salvation through CHRIST, and they can not truly find their way by becoming followers of Luther's way–believe me!!!!–and, please do not help feed their disbelief that the Holy Eucharist is NOT the Body and Blood of Christ, by defecting from the Catholic faith–belief in the Holy Eucharist as Christ truly intended it to be, I now fully believe I can see, makes such a huge difference in the spirituality of those who believe His word was plainly spoken about that–so, please don't lead more of us away from the Catholic faith!!!
Yours in the Love of Christ,
Christie C.
