Jews are renowned for having great senses of humor born from tragedy.
So this little humdinger should have had them rolling on the floors.
(Reuters) — President Barack Obama reassured Jewish donors on Monday he strongly supports Israel, stressing close ties between the United States and the Jewish state, but also emphasizing that changes in the Middle East will require a fresh look at the region.
“Both the United States and Israel are going to have to look at this new landscape with fresh eyes. It’s not going to be sufficient for us just to keep on doing the same things,” Obama said at the first of two big-ticket fund-raisers where he was speaking on Monday evening.
He addressed the crowd of about 80 people a month after a speech on the Middle East that exposed a rift between the United States and Israel. At Monday’s dinner, hosted by Americans in Support of a Strong U.S.-Israel Relationship, he said his administration had done more than any for 25 years to support Israel’s security.
Don’t forget to tip your waitress.
Jim Hoft reminds us that,”In May Barack Obama proposed handing over half of Jerusalem, the Wailing Wall, The Temple Mount, Old Jerusalem, and the tomb of Jesus Christ to the Hamas-Fatah terrorist alliance.”
Its funny cause its true. Any more support from Barry and Israel will be a giant hole in the ground.
Maybe Barry wants to tour the Borscht belt in 2013. He will have to do something to support his golf habit.

It is literally impossible to even imagine an American Presidential election occurring without reference to that crummy country; run as it is by thugs and creeps.
Every POTUS Candidate must bow and scrape before AIPAC and promise them my money.
I might even vote in the next election if there was a candidate who responded to the inevitable '"What's your position on Israel? – by saying, "Israel has no part in this election. This election is about America. America has enough of its own problems without worrying about Israel."
"Next question."

That'd be Ron Paul, right?

When the Jews were trying to escape Europe by going to America, they were turned away. Seems like some things never change at Vermont.

America took not one ordinary Jew. Pope Pius XII sent 800,000 Jews to Haiti, with phoney baptismal certificates, where Papa Doc took them in. Haiti, the only place in the western hemishpere who took in the Jews. No wonder Pope Pius XII is blamed for "not helping the Jews". It makes the Americans look bad because Americans did not take any refugee Jews in. There was Albert Einstein, of course to Princeton, and Dietrick von Hildebrand, both prominent escapees.

Dear Rick. You have internalised the weltanschauung of the holocaust industry and you helped to substantiate my point.
It is impossible to have a Presidential election in America without reference to that crummy country or without having someone trying to weigh the election down with references to Jews and their sufferings.
I guess that is what American elections are always at least partially about -guilt over the suffering of the Jews- but that is just the reverse racism one sees from those who hate the Jews and blame them for all evils.
On the one hand, we can not have a discussion without someone blaming all of our problems on the Jews and on the other hand we can not have an American Presidential election without reference as to how it will effect Israel and The Jews; either way, the Jews are a major focus of The American Presidential Election even though they numerically are a tiny minority.
Both of those motivations are worse than absurd, they are destructive.
America is to blame for the problems that beset it and America does not exist to succor foreign countries; especially crummy ones like Israel.
I am not sure what it is that America must do to expiate its putative guilt for the suffering of Jews but maybe Rick can tell us.
What must we do and how long must it be done before we can have a Presidential Election that is solely about America?
June 21, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Wow, who'd have thought there were so many CMR readers with views so similar to our exquisite president's?
America is historically slow to the battle and historically faithful once she enters the fray.
Great Britain was the first to recognize Isreal back in '48 followed by the USSR and France, etc. (check their policies now) The US was very, very slow to recognize Isreal. Once she did, she did. Recognition is a continual condition, not a one time thing, and the US is the one nation in the world that has truly continued to recgonize Isreal. Isreal's neighbors refuse to recognize her though she is right there under their noses. This is the direction that Obama is working to take the US – to positions much like that of France – everyone's perrenial fair-weather friend.
So, Crank from Vermont, here's your "next question": Which state is more faithful to democracy: Isreal or Vermont?
June 21, 2011 at 3:12 pm
The Jewish population,in 2010, in the U.S. was 5,275,000, second only to Israel at 5,703,700. We have an awful lot of people, here in the "land of the free" that have a vested interest in that "crummy country". A few of them might even vote. I would say that any presidential election is about any citizen of this country and his/her interests.
Exactly what is it that defines a country as "crummy" anyway?
June 21, 2011 at 3:24 pm
Well, the crank part is definitely an apt moniker there, Vermont.
As I did on another blog yesterday, I'm going to quote from David Mamet's new book, The Secret Knowledge:
Our American plane has been forced to land at some foreign airport, by the outbreak of World War III. It will not be allowed to depart. Two planes are leaving the airport; we must choose which we want to board. One plane is flying to Israel and one to Syria, and we must choose.
. . . No one reading this book would get on the plane to Syria. Why? It is a despotism, opposed to the West, to women, to gays, to Jews, to free speech. It is a heinous Arab version of National Socialism, dedicated to the murder of every person in Israel. And yet one may gain status or a feeling of solidarity by embracing the “Arab cause.”
But we embrace it only as entertainment. In the free market, which is to say when something is at stake, we will vote otherwise.

Dietrich von Hildebrand was a Protestant convert to Catholicism. Not that you had to be Jewish to have to escape the Nazis. They didn't like his teaching.
June 21, 2011 at 5:39 pm
@Vermont: My weltanschauung is the Gospel and so is America's (until Obama came).
June 21, 2011 at 5:41 pm
"Our American plane has been forced to land at some foreign airport, by the outbreak of World War III. It will not be allowed to depart"
The unacknowledged premise behind that question is the reality that America has grown so weak by wasting its men and money on overseas adventures that some foreign country can forbid an American plane to return home and America has to accept that crazy decision.
Before things get to that point, let's do something about America and not concern ourselves with crummy countries like Israel or Grenada, a country, unlike Israel, which has not attacked one of our ships.

Dear Miss Merkel. There are far more Irish than Jews in this Country but there is no calamitous or captious campaigning about what America must do to preserve Christian Ireland, and the same goes for every singe other country, especially the Holy See, a State that not a single Catholic apologist ever demands our POTUS candidates take a particular political position on.
If you ever read one American Catholic Apologist demanding that the Candidate of the Stupid Party or the Candidate of The Evil Party propose X amount of dollars in Foreign Aid to help pay for the needed increased security to protect our Holy Father (death threats against him by Muslims are spiking) copy and paste it and save it and you can sell it on EBAY as an extreme, one-of-a-kind, rarity.
In Catholicism all hell would be breaking loose if Muslim threats against the life of Bibi (Seriously, any country led by a man named, "Bibi," ain't worth one penny of Foreign Aid) were spiking but threats against the leader of the Kingdom of God on Earth?
Pffft. Who cares?
The important, question in American politics, everywhere and always, is "Will this President support Israel?"
June 21, 2011 at 7:29 pm
Let's see. Bombs are being rocketed into Israel, but not the Vatican. Suicide bombers go into Israeli shopping districts, but not into the Vatican. Guess it is easier for the Vatican to protect itself than for Israel.
Just for the record, a lot of non-Jews want Israel to be protected too.
June 21, 2011 at 8:30 pm
. There are far more Irish than Jews in this Country but there is no calamitous or captious campaigning about what America must do to preserve Christian Ireland,
Great point. Just think of all those Scottish, Northern Irish, and English suicide bombers that have been attacking Ireland for the better part of 40 years. I say we shouldn't say another word about Israel until the Majesty Her Queen stops blasting missiles into Dublin from her little perch there in Westminster.
and the same goes for every singe other country, especially the Holy See, a State that not a single Catholic apologist ever demands our POTUS candidates take a particular political position on.
See Pattymelt's comment. I'd just add that I am not aware of a dedicated effort on the part of neighboring countries to deny the right of the Vatican to exist.
the Candidate of the Stupid Party or the Candidate of The Evil Party
Mark Shea, is that you?
Seriously, any country led by a man named, "Bibi," ain't worth one penny of Foreign Aid
Really? Aside from the fact that it's a nickname, the President of the United States some time ago was a man who once starred in a movie called "Bedtime for Bonzo." We did okay with that.

What I love about CMR is the sharp wit, sarcastic humor and even panache. But with Obama and the Jews, I cannot help but be weighed down in a somber mood. He reminds me of an SS guard, very professional, in leading these people in box cars to work camps. Obama has a new word – "a pathway for lasting peace". Then he has the nerve to stand up before them and ask for their money. I have it from other sources that he also issued an ultimatum for Bibi to comply with his grand design and have him pull back to the pre-67 borders to expose his people on harm's way. This is more than a cruel joke, much less chutzpah. This is dark, evil – even demonic.

@Rick Amen!
Vermont must have run out of cheese to go with all that wine…
Helping other nations is a big part of what makes this country great. We help Israel because they are a democracy surrounded by theocracies intent on Israel's destruction. If you don't like that Mr. Vermont…You could always move to Iran, I hear they're trying to recruit your type…

Israel attacks Vatican over just call
Sun Oct 24, 2010 4:47PM
Pope Benedict XVI leads a procession of 180 members of the clergy from the Middle East in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican on October 24, 2010.
Israel blasts a Vatican gathering, which has condemned Tel Aviv for taking biblical words out of context to lay claim to the Palestinian lands and expel native Palestinians.
The patriarchs and bishops of Catholic churches in the Middle East, who attended the synod chaired by Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on Saturday, condemned Israel's "recourse to theological and biblical positions which use the Word of God to wrongly justify injustices…," AFP reported.
"For Christians, one can no longer talk of the land promised to the Jewish people," said Cyril Salim Bustros, head of the Greek Melkite Church in the United States, who attended the meeting. The presence of the Christ, he said, had nullified the "promise."
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor, however, responded to the gathering's statement saying, "The public theological debate over who holds the correct interpretation of the Holy Scripture is a thing of the Middle Ages," the agency reported.
"It seems an unwise idea to try to revive it."
Israel fabricated its existence in 1948 during the Six-Day War against the Arab world, forcing 711,000 Palestinians to leave their homeland. Estimates for 2008 put the number of the refugees as high as 4.6 million.
In 1967, Tel Aviv went on to occupy and later annex the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in violation of the international law.
The operations also led to the occupation of the Gaza Strip. Israel later withdrew from the territory, but has been keeping it under recurrent attacks.
The Saturday meeting also brought up the United Nations Security Council resolutions, which demanded Tel Aviv to pull out of the occupied Palestinian territories and urged UN action to end the occupation.

There is not a slander or slight that Israel can make against The Holy See and Catholics living in the M.E. that will not be ignored by Christian Zionists.
As far as being a member of a nation within a nation (The Catholic Church) that is, always and everywhere, an ignored reality while the Catholic routinely defends Israel, a crummy country comprised of men who reject Jesus.
In fact, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of Christian Catholics will be horrified to read that report so successfully have the zionists propagandised Christian Catholics.

The San Remo Resolution (April 24-25, 1920) stipulated that the borders of the Jewish National Home in Palestine should be determined by the Principal Allied Powers. On December 6, 1920 Britain and France signed a treaty delineating the borders of the territory that would be placed under the Mandates System.
