What a bunch of fools. They cheer the downfall of a once great civilization.
The Politico reports:
Striking what advocates believe is a historic victory for gay rights, the New York state senate Friday approved same-sex marriage, New York a promised governor’s signature away from being the sixth and largest state to allow gays and lesbians to marry.
The 33-29 vote is an enormous victory for first-year Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat who pledged during last fall’s campaign to push for gay marriage. It comes after an intense public and private lobbying campaign from a wide cast of politicians, celebrities and athletes, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former President Bill Clinton.
Marriage became legally meaningless in New York today.
And every child in public schools in New York will learn that marriage is between a man and a man or a woman and a woman or maybe a man and a woman.
Update: Wasn’t this accomplished the moment most people accepted the unitive functions of sexuality without the procreative aspect.

Dave P uh, no. I define hatred as sayingb those who disagree with you dont have the right to marry. Know anybody who believes that? DUH!!

The central message of the Gospels is Jesus' efforts at social justice–today he would be hanging out with the gays, atheists, prostitutes, criminals, etc., if he were alive, not with the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, which preaches intolerance and discrimination.
Yeah, and you know what He'd be saying? "Go and sin no more" not "You're okay, I'm okay."

No, it's not. This is the kind of intellectually vapid BS the left spouts. Together, you and the rest of the liberal applauding this have about 10 brain cells to share between you.
Marriage is not a right. Freedom of religion is.
And we'll win. We'll fight back and some day repeal gay "marriage" laws so that the truth of human dignity and sexuality can reign free.
Enjoy this temporary victory while it lasts.

Anonymous and his Orwellian view that denying gays the right to marry isn't bigotry staggers the imagination. If Catholics were treated like gays, would you claim that was bigotry? Obviously being Catholic impairs your ability to think
June 26, 2011 at 2:01 am
Actually, Bob, Catholics are a protected class under this legislation so yes, Catholics may affirm the sacramentality of marriage and under the law you are no longer entitled to attack people on basis of religious affiliation or belief. You are free to do what you wish but you may not orchestrate hate speech against any group free to worship as they see fit in a pluralistic society. That's the deal Bob.

Anonymous comes through with the traditional 'nyah nyah' argument that bigotry isn't bigotry if it's done for religious reasons. Tell it to the Taliban.

Anonymous says I'm not free to use hate speech. Uh, no. While I haven't USED hate speech, this is America. Hate speech is protected.
Tough for you guys

No one has the right to marry. I am actually in favor of leaving marriage entirely to the religious/personal realm and allowing individuals to enter a "partnership of mutual convenience" with any other chosen individual – spouse, significant other, sibling, best friend, eldest child, parent – whoever. In fact, this arrangement has been proposed instead of civil unions, and has been rejected, since that would thwart the purpose of civil unions and gay marriage.

I should have added that many socially liberal folks who comment on blogs also tend to define (or really re-define) hate as "disapproving of my behavior or actions."
Many of these folks seem to have trouble telling the difference between "I dislike you or hate you" (which very few conservatives are saying) and "I dislike or disapprove of some of your behaviors or actions" (which many conservatives are saying).

The institution of marriage is thousands of years old. The reasons for its creation had nothing to do with declaring one's love for another person. Love does not need the recognition or approval or blessing of society. A man and a woman, and the children they bring into the world through the grace of God are the building blocks of a healthy, strong society. When I was a young woman, I was thrown into a society where almost 'anything goes' and where disrespect for this institution was inculcated by the media and my peers. It took me years of discernment and education to undo the damage that philosphy wreaked on my soul. Thank God for religious education and the Holy Spirit! I see clearly now that giving "marriage rights" to homosexuals has nothing to do with "equal rights." Give "marriage rights" to the sterile joining of same sex couples trivializes the grandeur and beauty of a sacred institution. Children will now grow up with a distorted view of relationships. I pray for them all.

The census was being discussed on NPR this week. For the first time in American history, the majority of persons under the age of 3 are from minority groups. America's embrace of contraception, abortion, and now gay marriage is cultural suicide. How can people not see this?

It's clear that "bob's" deviant sexuality, or support thereof, IS his religion. Remember, bobby, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Good luck, pal.

We need a clear, simple "resistance" symbol that people who support traditional marriage can display– pins, bumper stickers, etc… Any ideas?
June 26, 2011 at 9:47 am
Can we do the interlocking male-female symbol, but make the interlocking circle part look like wedding rings?
June 26, 2011 at 12:00 pm
What can we do? Pray rosaries EVERY DAY for the Consecration of Russia, who has spread her errors of atheism and all that results from it, offer our Holy Communions, and fast to counter the work of Satan and save souls as Our lady of Fatima commanded. Be holy and make reparation for ourselves and others who are bringing about this evil – THAT we CAN DO and Satan HATES it.

No, it's not. If "hate speech" is protected, religious belief is protected. The First Amendment doesn't apply to you solely because you're PC.
It's not bigotry, it's truth. Gay marriage isn't about equality or love, it's about sticking it to traditional religion and people of faith.
And every time you post, you prove that point more and more and more.

Another monstrously sad day for America. Another long slide down the slope to hell. Get down on your knees and beg for mercy. God will not be mocked forever.

Catholics are still prohibited from marrying Jews–or, more accurately (and less inflammatorily), non-baptized persons–under canon law. This prohibition can be dispensed by the local ordinary; however the marriage, while valid, is not sacramental if one party is not baptized. So bob is technically correct, but not in a way that supports his charge of bigotry.
BTW the dispensation in question (for "disparity of cult") is not difficult to obtain (I say, speaking from personal experience).
