One thing is clear. No organization, not even one holy, Catholic, and Apostolic, is immune from the whims of the arrogant bureaucrat.
For reasons it shouldn’t be hard to fathom, some bureaucrat at the under-secretariat of stupidity at the USCCB released a statement pointing out that one group out of likely hundreds of groups that will be opportunistically present during World Youth Day in Madrid is not “official” and not “accredited.” RealCatholicTV and Michael Voris.
Patrick Madrid remarks
This is quite unusual, perhaps even unprecedented, in the 27-year history of the Vatican-sponsored World Youth Day (WYD) events held every three years in a major city around the world. The official WYD website contains the following announcement in which it takes the remarkable step of publicly spurning American Catholic Internet commentator Michael Voris
Quite unusual indeed and also quite unnecessary. Voris remarks that this same bureaucracy did not and does not feel compelled to issue written statements about the dozens of “Catholic” groups who attend these things and openly defy Church teaching and give out condoms and such things. No warnings about them. But Voris gets a written denunciation of his unofficiality. How silly.
Whomever issued this statement should be fired so that they can take up their rightful position on some Obamacare death panel.
You can see Voris’ response to this silliness here.

Dont tell Mark Shea he might just put it up on his blog as an example of "I told you so" taking everything out of context and making some sort of connection between that message and Mr. Voris orthodoxy… oh wait, too late.

Just goes to show you that many more bishops need to be replaced (or at least ignored). They are constantly proving that their priorities and emphases are deceptive and misguided and, frankly, dangerous to the Church. Talk about straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!

Giovanni, unfortunately we have Shepherds who shoo away doves and feed (with the Eucharist!) wolves. God help them, and God watch over those on whom the wolves desire to feed.

My name is Stu and I am an unaccredited Catholic.

Patrick, you time after time solidify yourself as one of my favorite bloggers. As I have said on several of the comboxes regarding this issue. This isn't about your preference for Voris, this is about someone somewhere not liking him who has a little too much power and decided to use it for a personal Crusade.
Thanks for the post.

Some jumped-up bureaucrat in the USCCB has a problem with Mr.
Voris? They just made me like him even more.
July 28, 2011 at 1:51 pm
I thought Voris handled the issue very gracefully in his video.

What's the problem? Wasn't Vatican II all about getting the laity "involved"?? Well you've got it folks! Enjoy!! Say "hello" to Michael Voris!
What? You thought it would be restricted to womyn liturgists and lay people giving homilies and parish social justice committees agitating for socialism in Nicaragua?
Oh dear! Be careful what you wish for!
July 28, 2011 at 2:45 pm
So who accredits Catholics? This is ridiculous.
July 28, 2011 at 3:34 pm
Fact Check — It wasn't anyone at the USCCB, it was the organizers of World Youth Day.
July 28, 2011 at 3:57 pm
Whoever posted such a comment, be it the USCCB or the WYD folks, it was utterly silly. And it makes plain that they are on the wrong side of our struggles, the cafeteria side.
July 28, 2011 at 4:06 pm
I like Voris more and Shea less (although I was not a fan of his to begin with) every day,
July 28, 2011 at 4:40 pm
My bet is that the folks at WYD, during the vetting process for presenters and such, were probably given misinformation by some liberal hack who has a grudge against Mr. Voris.
Doesn't it just grind against your soul that silly, obnoxious, Church-hating heretics are mollycoddled and permitted to receive Holy Communion when faithful Catholics who actually abide by the Church's teaching are marginalized because they speak up for love of Holy Mother Church?
God permits the testing of his faithful children. Let's pray Mr. Voris will remain faithful and his tough love for the Church will be heard. Keep the faith Mr. Voris!

Perhaps the Spanish government is trying to dissuade Voris' entry into their country to spare their youth from the shock and trauma that will surely overwhelm them once face-to-face with the dead raccoon Voris currently uses as a hairpiece.

Anyone who points to 'the king's new clothes' will be punished. No matter that they are right.
Weakland summarily fired a teacher who reported (privately, no less) on the serial homosexual boy-abuser in a Milwaukee parish. The teacher was right and the priest in question did prison-time. No matter. The teacher was fired.
Question a priest's liturgical aberrations openly? Prepare for the consequences: firing.
Fortunately for Voris and many others, it's called "white martyrdom." Gets lotsa credit against Purgatory.

I think the statement very accurately reflects the thinking of the American bishops, who by and large despise conservatives. After 26 years of JPII and 6 years of Benedict XVI, faithful Catholic bishops in America are no closer to controlling the USCCB bureacracy than when its Executive Director was Joseph Bernadin. Perhaps if they got a few choice appointments…nah, it'll never happen.
July 29, 2011 at 12:07 am
Mr. Voris does not hesitate to blame the bishops for some of the problems in today's Church. Like many people in authority, many bishops dislike criticism. Instead of considering whether the shoe might fit, they stomp on the person who points out the stuff they have stepped in. Lord have mercy.

No other Catholic blogger is touching this. Wanna take a shot at it?
Doubtful.

My thoughts on this:
Nobody thinks liberal groups distributing condoms are any part of the official Church teaching. Some might be fooled that Voris and company are.
Hence you could have a valid reason for specifically making mention of Voris.
Really Patrick… is ad hominem the best you could do here?
