This is a strange source for a story like this, but amazing and saddening none the less.
Gawker.com, (Caution: Graphic photos at the link) the gossipy website, reports about the gay super-culture in the Miami archdiocese grown and cultivated by the former Archbishop John Favalora.
The story is based on a report by the Catholic group Christifidelis.
Favalora, who was the most powerful Catholic official in Southern Florida from 1994 until last year, stands accused of cultivating what one group of pissed-off Catholics describes as a corrupt “homosexual superculture” in the 195 churches, schools, missions, seminaries, and universities that constitute the Miami Archdiocese. If their allegations are to be believed, for sixteen years Favalora ran his organization like the don of a lavender mob, rewarding his favorite homosexual sons and forgiving their many indiscretions—rampant sex, hedonism, embezzlement, alcoholism, and the railroading of chaste priests among them—while punishing those with the temerity to complain.
…
Here are just some of the un-Catholic behaviors that “Miami Vice” accuses Favalora of engaging in: He partially owned a company that manufactured Yohimbe, an aphrodisiac beverage marketed to horny club-kids with the promise of “the hands-down best sex of your life.” He allegedly took frequent trips to fabulous Key West with his gay associates. He was over-familiar toward his seminarians. (One ex-employee of the diocese recalls him telling a young seminarian at a gathering to “Come to papa and sit on my lap.”) Favalora’s second- and third-in-command, Monsignor William Hennessey and Monsignor Michael Souckar, are both accused by Christefidelis of being active homosexuals—and if they are, that counts among the least of their difficulties with Catholic orthodoxy
Sad and disgusting, if not entirely surprising.
Miami, while perhaps a most egregious example of the gay culture that ran throughout the Church for a few decades, is certainly not alone. It may very well be another generation or two before this infection is eliminated from the body of Christ.

@ Peterk No, I mean, if the Catholic Church hated homosexuals as they say, then why are there entire diocesan administrations filled with them? Miami is proof that the Catholic Church even has affirmative action, fast-tracking them into positions of real power and influence. So the MSM has nothing to complain about.

If this behavior can exist with AN ARCHBISHOP, I am leaving the Church. Where are his superiors?
I give up.

OMG These comments are unreal. They range from people having their Victorian sensibilities offended to people who just can't believe it's true. Of course it's true. The entire Church, worldwide, has become infested with this sort of thing. In case you haven't visited a Catholic parish latley let me fill you in. Attend any Catholic parish worldwide and you are in danger of losing your faith. Why do you think Holy Mass is celebrated with such a lack of reverance not just in a parish here or there but EVERYWHERE. Because the priests are not men of prayer. They became priests because they have a cushy job for life and don't ever have to work for it and they are NEVER held accountable for their actions. "Going MY Way" doesn't and hasn't exsited for a long time. These priests don't visit the sick or clothe the naked anymore. These priests are out partying with their priest friends with money skimmed off the collection. How else do they all pay for lavish European vacations 2 or 3 times a year? Philidelphia clergy are notorious for visiting a whore house called Premiere Escorts near Delaware Avenue. The pastor of a Wynnewood area Church which he calls a "jewel" of the diocese frequents there every Wends. He pays for young men $150.00 an hour. They need to be thrown out. Better to have 10 holy priests than 100 evil, sinful, prideful men.

I wish that they had put in their article a separate link for that disgusting photo. I feel so dirty now. But I guess I read enough of it before quickly clicking the exit button. God help us.

It's true. I studied in that seminary and couldn't even begin to tell you the horrors I witnessed first hand, even after the Apostolic Visitation.

Jpac:
What an odd comment.
In a parish – who do you think facilitates and adores the gay priest? The straight men? No – of course it's the women. Mostly older women who don't quite get the gayness but see the gay priest as the son they never had or the son they had who left the Church.
And you can't – no matter what the Vatican orders – throw a guy out because he "seems" to be gay. It's got to be about personal behavior/maturity and adherence to the Church in teaching and practice. Most of the guys cited in this article have contempt for the latter and should be thrown out on that basis alone.

The last Anonymous is right. Everytime I've seen a gay priest he was surrounded by adoring women. I've sometimes wondered if the church ladies don't PREFER a gay pastor.

The Pope knows what needs to be done. He just needs the courage to do it. A worldwide cleansing of the heirarchy and clergy (and the convents) needs to be done. Hundreds of bishops and thousands of priests need to be laicized. When you let modernism and homosexuality in the clergy go unchecked for decades this is the result. Bishops and priests, entire orders (example the Jesuits) publicly teach and promote heresy and nothing is done. The Pope needs to get rid of them. The bishop being removed from Australia was wonderful but was it necessary for the Vatican to take years to do it. Asking the bishop to come to Rome time and again and he refuses and nothing is done is inexcusable. The situation in the Church is dire. These bishops and priests and nuns need to be thrown out (as St Paul clearly states). You cannot reason with a liberal so get rid of them because in reality they have already left the Church. The laity has a right to clergy that are truly Catholic. Because nothing was done 40 years ago we now face entire religious orders that not only aren't Catholic many times they are no longer Christian (Maryknoll, Jesuits, the SSJ's, Mercy nuns, Augustinians). Just go to any of their institutions worldwide and you will find choas, centering "prayer", pro abortion, pro homosexual stances by the entire bunch. You will also find that they have some things in common: hatred for the Papacy, hatred for Holy Orders, hatred for tradition and hatred for disiplined living. Get rid of them. The people wearing rose colored glasses need to wake up and realize the Church is on the edge of a cliff. The voices who should be decrying the decay of the clergy are silent. We have bishops by their silence allowing abortion and homosexulaity and at the same time literally refusing to give communion to people who wish to receive on their knees. Don't you realize this is a sign of just how evil and corrupt they have become.

@ C Whitty-
Is that seminary the exception, or are a large percentage of them this way? It is such a shame. We pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. I hope in doing so, we are not sending our young men off to be locked up with these predators of immorality.
