This is just awesome. One of the best ads I’ve ever seen. But I’ve gotta’ tell you. I probably wouldn’t have walked in to the theater, especially if I was the black dude.
Rachel Balducci of Faith & Family fame says she watched the video and says there’s no way she would’ve gone in. Check out her take here.

Great ads, shame about the beer …

If Carlsberg did movie theatres…

If there were beer in movie theaters I'd see a lot more movies. It would probably make some of them a little more bearable.

This reminds me of something I saw as a child in New York City. My disabled grandmother had fallen while transferring into her wheelchair. She was sitting on the pavement just a bit away from Times Square as tourists and businessmen walked by, one after another. It was two bikers that stopped. Two leather-clad, ear-ringed, sleeveless, tattooed men stopped, carefully lifted her into her wheelchair, and made sure she was okay before going on their way.

So that's where Fr. Corapi is hanging out nowadays…

I can look mean to. They don't scare me.

Mrs. Wild Bill would never have permitted me to lead her to the empty seats. More's the pity – even if he had, she wouldn't have appreciated the beer either.

God is awesome. Beer adverts are interesting, enjoyable, even powerful if you want but not awesome. Please do not reduce the meaning of words, particularly words which we use in relation to God and his works. I know Americans have reduced the meaning of the word awesome to something else altogether but it would be good to see the word being used properly.

Mike, your ability to to brow beat people and kill a lighthearted mood with the epitome of anti-charity is awesome.
And by that, I mean something like awful–I am full of awe that this is what you really thought was the best thing to add to a conversation. I noticed that you use the word "good" in the same sentence you use the words "reduced" and "Americans," and as we use the word "good" for God, clearly by your own logic, you are a blasphemer.
Okie

What does being black have to do with not walking in?
September 28, 2011 at 3:17 pm
Everyone is nice. The world is safe. Mean looking bikers are really the nicest folks and clothing, tattoos, and attitudes communicate a message we are supposed to interpret in precisely the opposite way we would normally interpret it.
In other words;
Prudence is a Vice.
Everyone is nice.
I wouldn't have walked into that place if I was drunk

As a concerned reader of your blog, I would respectfully suggest that you remove the reference to "the black dude" – a completely gratuitous remark.
September 28, 2011 at 6:26 pm
The "black dude" reference is because of the seeming likelihood that there are a bunch of skinheads in that crowd… I thought that was pretty obvious, no? Maybe not a necessary remark, but still relevant IMO.

Way to be a buzzkill, Mike. What a uselessly pedantic post.
