I found this incredible photo at Thomas Peter’s place of a priest trying to stop a Greek rioter from hurling a molotov cocktail at police.
Christianity on the line.

Amazing photo. But he should watch out. That beard looks flammable.

Father should be more concerned with those Stormtroopers and their heavy artillery.

While the photo seems amazing- Christians against chaos- it could be seen as simply the state (Greek Orthodox being the state religion)using the church to defend state policies

I don't think I'd argue with that priest, myself. Kinda reminds me of that picture of (pre-Pope) JPII out camping and looking more like a minor football player than a Father!
Considering the human response to those folks that set them on fire, that priest is saving rioters' lives.

i wonder how many of us here would stand in the way and stop that rioter from hurling the molotov cocktail…would we jeopardize our lives to bring sanity to that rioter and the situation…?
i would…

As soon as the young man let's fly with the molotov cocktail all hell will break loose. So, he is stopping a potential beyond painful situation.
Difficult to see him as working for the modern Greece.

That's pretty cool right there.
I don't see the "state getting the Church defending policies of the state" thing myself, but I have to admit: if the policy the state was using the Church to enforce was "don't throw molotov cocktails at people" I wouldn't mind that much. That's a pretty solid policy.

Amazing. I didn't see a priest defending the state. I saw a priest trying to prevent a young idiot from getting himself and others killed.

I probably wrote to soon- because I agree it is an act of heroism- but those people who are protesting the state might see this priest as working for the state and not being sensitive to their 'needs'- but I'll stop writing now…

I hardly think they'll see it that way.
Also, is this really in Greece? All the riot police shields say POLICE in Latin lettering in the English language. Maybe Britain?

you think that's badass? Watch photos of Catholic priests being fusilated by marxist mexican revolutionaries during the Guerra Cristera, or Catholic priests tending to wounded soldiers during the massacres perpetrated by socialist and anarchist scum, such as the worm throwing bombs in the photo, against the Catholic Church and Catholics in Spain's Civil War.
