Paul Krugman said “And there has in fact been nothing so far to match the behavior of Tea Party crowds in the summer of 2009.”
I agree.
What the heck is wrong with these people.

(*sigh*) Offering yet another prayer for the conversion of foul-mouthed trolls (cf. the soon-to-be-deleted example at 10-11-11, 5:25 PM)…

I have no issue with socialists who want to live this way. I have issue with them demanding that we ALL have to live as they say. "Wall St" and capitalism aren't the problem, the power they buy from the state is the problem. Who do these people think produces their cell phones, etc.???
The remark at the top is typical socialist "rebuttal". They think that this is devastating critique and analysis, that all that is needed is a foul enough epithet and their argument is proven. It's all they have, they can't defend theft and slavery and they know it.

Zizek, being hyperbolic yet again.
Glad to see the Occupy movement moving into blog comments. Does that make the people on the streets Trolls?

If "smart" is allowing yourself to uncritically regurgitate the ill-informed, amoral rantings of a middle-aged, unkempt, flea-ridden demagogue, stupid isn't a bad alternative!

This movement terrifies me. Here we go. I feel like the family in the movie Signs, watching their world deteriorate and wondering when they should start boarding up the house.

Saul Alinsky would be proud. Alinsky asked God to send him to hell.

At least they aren't vile racists like those disgusting Tea parties. If you don't want Obama to rule you like a feudal lord than you are a disgusting racist.

Just in here to note that the Anonymous 10:01 comment is certainly sarcasm before anyone complains.

I wonder where Dorothy Sayers and Peter Maurin would be standing on this one, or even G.K. Chesterton and Hillare Belloc.

The more of these videos I see, the sadder it looks. This is really a national disgrace. Unfortunately these days, national disgrace is becoming a daily occurrence.
Although the mainstream media doesn't appear to think it's very newsworthy, the people posting on http://the53.tumblr.com/ are the authentic Americans. I am proud of them and their stories. Count me in!

Thanks Paul, because I was most definitely going to complain.

Is this what goes on in their Marxist classrooms? Just wondering.

It is morbidly fascinating to see a generation of people growing up with no knowledge whatsoever of the failed "experiment" that was Communism.
They don't know how it ends and why.
Yet there are still those who teach the dialectic as if it is some new idea whose time has come. Just listen to the language, they all talk about the Plutocrats and Oligarchs. Soon it will be about the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. That is all so yesterday's news. These kids are just too young and maybe to stupid to know better.
They don't know that Germany was supposed to rise up and become the first Communist state. But no one wanted it there.
They may know that it was forced by the Bolsheviks onto the Russian people at the end of a gun. But most of them are for "peace". How long before they decide that they, too, need guns and bombs to make their movement take hold?
They wouldn't get far at my house anyway.
Prayers for them all. (Are we all saying the daily Rosary yet? If not? Why not?)

Look, the Church does not advocate Communism or un-fettered Laissez-Faire Capitalism. It advocates a balanced approach between the 2. So why do most Catholic posters on blogs like this believe that Christ is Ayn Rand? He's no more Ayn Rand than he is Trotsky.

All things are NOT possible. Try getting these preachy, pre-school weirdos to earn their own unsubsidized livings. Or understand basic economics. Or bathe. I can smell the Marxism right through the computer!
October 13, 2011 at 1:55 pm
theotpr, why is it that when conservatives oppose excessive government, liberals automatically assume that we're for laissez-faire capitalism? My brother-in-law did that last night, suggesting that opposition to "Eating the Rich" implies a support for the privatization of roads (or some such).
Opposing a $20/hour minimum wage doesn't mean I oppose government safety regulations in food handling, but that's the kind of (il)logical leap made by many Occupy Wall Street supporters.
October 13, 2011 at 2:24 pm
Along the lines of what Matthew was saying, I've seen facebook posts saying that if you oppose taxes, then you must oppose public roads, streets, bridges, etc. First of all, no one save a few extremists oppose all taxes. Second, roads, bridges and other similar items are the major things that government should be funding. It's the other things that we're more circumspect about.
