I saw the Mighty Macs this weekend, the story about the girl’s basketball team from the little Catholic school that won three national championships. It’s a great story and kinda’ cool for me because Immaculata College isn’t far from my home.
I saw it for free because I’m cool like that but I will tell you that I’ll be taking my kids to see it this weekend and am kinda’ pumped to do so.

is that the one with the nun who's totally cool when she goes out for drinks or rubs herself against the guy?

The movie is excellent. Only the hyper rigid have issues when, in fact, they should celebrate that Hollywood has invested in a family movie.

I haven't seen it myself, but I would say that the point is not whether or not Hollywood made a family friendly movie. The important point is whether or not Hollywood made a GOOD family friendly movie.
I'm sick of people telling me that I should like this movie or that because it's "family friendly." I kinda-sorta was able to deal with Fireproof, and I'll actually defend it to most of my friends. I cannot deny, however, that in some scenes the acting was lacking, the plot was poor, the lighting was off, parts didn't make sense (like when the guy who was remarried talked about how marriage is forever). Just because something has religious tones to it does not mean it's a quality work of art. Sorry.
According to the reviews, this movie was mediocre. The main character is a feminist, the religious factor is nothing more than sentiment. The scene that Mr skeptical announced above is referring to a bar scene by a nun struggling with her faith and going out to a bar in secular clothing. The guy was described as "polite barroom Romeo in movie history."
My point? I'm not planning on going to see it. I think I'll watch Ben Hur instead…

The way to promote Catholicism is through good Catholic art. If you make a cheesy movie, that's really just going to make it look less appealing.
