According to The Mirror, a man staying in a hotel room for the night decided he’d cheat on his wife and mother of his three children and hire a prostitute. So he called for a prostitute to come to his room. A bit later he got a knock on the door and excitedly went to answer the door, swung it open and there was…his daughter, the 20 year old prostitute! And then he collapsed. And the daughter ran away screaming.
Ouch.
That’s going to make for one awkward Thanksgiving dinner next year, huh?
But now he good news to show you that no matter how far down you swirl your life down the toilet, there’s always hope.
UPI reports:
“I am sorry for what I did,” Ncube said. “I spoke to my wife and daughter. I apologized for my actions as I just wanted my family back. My daughter has stopped doing what she was doing and is going back to school next year. My marital problems are not over, but we have a counselor who is helping us to get over this most difficult period.”

I know this story was published here tongue in cheek but to make a point, however, this family has been visited with a tremendous blessing; make no mistake about it.
They have been given a chance to address their weaknesses constructively and apparently have siezed the opportunity.
Good for them.
Many of us are far less fortunate and evev the Catholic Church has abandoned both the truth and our marriages.
But no one really cares, although the conservatives are all "aglow" over the new translation of the liturgy, as the Pope pushes theologians to find ways around marital fidelity, via the internal forum, that are "consistent with Catholic teaching".
The most dysfunctional marriage is a Catholic one. It is unsupported by the Catholic Church itself, which froths at the mouth trying to devour it, like a vulture circling above its next meal.
It is a scandalous disgrace but neither the clergy, nor the laity do anything to address it. The beat goes on……
I do, seriously, thank you for this post. It is good to see a marriage which survives infidelitiy, but it is the exception, not the rule. It is the most pressing problem in the Church while the hierarchy ignore countless pleas for help.

Right! The Gates of Hell have prevailed against the Church and against Peter!
And you're here to prophesy to us about it.
Not.

With respect, Theo, lots of abandoned spouses find that clergy and even bishops are not as supportive as they should be. This doesn't affect the Church's indefectibility; it simply means that some priests and some priests lack prudence and make poor decisions. How many English bishops stood out against Henry VIII's adulterous second marriage? 1 out of more than 40!

I've never heard of "The Mirror" but I have to wonder about the this story. What "john" or "prostitute" would ever tell anyone outside their very, very closest confidants that they had this experience, let alone a journalist? This just isn't something one would share.
And the "abandoned spouse"…please tell me what kind of "support" they want and are not getting. Do they expect the bishops to knock their exes on the head and drag them back to the abandoned? Do they want financial support from the bishops? Hand-holding? Mass intentions? What?

@Anonymous 8:53AM . A fellow worker was bragging about his prostitute and confessed that his son walked in for the same prostitute. I am sorry to say that this is all too common, especially since more than half the world considers prostitutes a way of life. They all want "pure" virgin wives at home and consider it their birthright to deflower others. God is Justice

Dysfunctional families have Biblical precedent. Judah went to a prostitute, who turned out to be his own daughter-in-law, Tamar (Genesis 38:10-30). She had twins, Perez and Zerah. Perez is an ancestor of Jesus (Matthew 1:3)

to anonymous at 5:39, what are you talking about? Are you sure that no priest has ever, ever helped to save a marriage? I can testify that 2 priests helped to save my marriage. There is precious little they can do however unless they are asked and both parties are willing.
