I know I’m becoming the biggest flip flopper in the world but I’m seriously reconsidering Rick Perry. The dude is pro-life. He’s a tax cutter. And in this ad he’s chatting up ending Obama’s war on religion.
Make no mistake about it, Obama has declared war on religion.

Gays in the military vs Christmas…..how cliche
Really? That's a cliche? I mean, that's a trope you hear repeated often? Do you know what a cliche even is? Do you not know how to sign a name to a post? Why am I talking to a troll?

I have to admit that, at this point, I am even considering Santorum again.
THERE! I said it!
Am I repeating myself? Am I repeating myself?
The point is, that we are not going to have a perfect candidate. Too bad. But surely we will need to throw our support behind anyone who is NOT B.O. and who at least claims to be Pro-Life, and has even the remotest modicum of common sense.
Which leaves us down to:
Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, Bachman – and dare I put him in the list – Romney. (Yes I just threw up a little in my mouth) Possibly in that order? But among their many obstacles to being elected:
* Perry can't debate
* Gingrich is going to be made a caricature and torn to shreds
* Santorum isn't likable
* Bachman seems out of it and tends to spin
* Romney… where does one begin? But he probably can get elected.
Again – prayer and fasting for this country, please!

Lisa, you probably won't see this, but I must point out a simple fact to you: I never said Rick Perry was right in using capital punishment with all those people. I mentioned a very brief moment from the former head of the CDF, who happens to also be the current Pope that one can disagree with the Church's view validly. I made no argument for or against the death penalty; I mentioned very simply that it is not MORALLY a life issue.
Care for the poor is a social justice issue, it happens to affect life. You are grabbing at nothing in mentioning this at all. You are comparing the poor, the handicapped and elderly to murderers. Logically, your claim does not follow.
You are not impressing me by being able to throw around quotes from the USCCB and John Paul II, all of which have a different conclusion than your own. They leave the question of the death penalty on the table while arguing for another way. You are saying that they have made it singularly a life issue, a moral absolute to say no to capital punishment.
Catholicism does not say this, John Paul II did not say this, the Catechism does not say this, and the USCCB does not say this.
I believe you are incorrect, and you need to reread each of these documents in the light of the Church's tradition and theology of justice, especially that of capital punishment.
