I love stories like this. People who will go to extraordinary lengths to get out of doing work. But this one takes the cake.

A man faked his mother’s death by publishing a fake obituary so that he could get time off from work. It would have worked if Mom and the rest of the family didn’t read the newspaper.

Authorities in northwestern Pennsylvania say a man published an obituary for his living mother in a ploy to get paid bereavement time off from work.

Relatives called The Jeffersonian Democrat newspaper in Brookville after the obit appeared to report the woman was actually alive and well. The woman herself then visited the paper.

Brookville police charged Scott Bennett, 45, with disorderly conduct on Tuesday.

Everyone knows your are supposed to fake an Aunt’s death, not mom’s. Rookie. No word on whether he got fired from job but if he does, there is always MSNBC.
