Cynthia Nixon of Sex and the City fame (or infamy?) is now dating a girl. She used to be straight and even had kids (by an actual man) but now she’s hitting for the other team.
That’s all well and good and pretty typical for Hollywood. But it seems Ms. (Mz.?) Nixon went and said something that Hollywood ain’t liking. And she must be silenced. Now!!!!!
Cynthia Nixon said she had a choice.
“I gave a speech recently, an empowerment speech to a gay audience, and it included the line ‘I’ve been straight and I’ve been gay, and gay is better.’ And they tried to get me to change it, because they said it implies that homosexuality can be a choice. And for me, it is a choice. I understand that for many people it’s not, but for me it’s a choice, and you don’t get to define my gayness for me. A certain section of our community is very concerned that it not be seen as a choice, because if it’s a choice, then we could opt out. I say it doesn’t matter if we flew here or we swam here, it matters that we are here and we are one group and let us stop trying to make a litmus test for who is considered gay and who is not.”…
“Why can’t it be a choice? Why is that any less legitimate? It seems we’re just ceding this point to bigots who are demanding it, and I don’t think that they should define the terms of the debate. I also feel like people think I was walking around in a cloud and didn’t realize I was gay, which I find really offensive. I find it offensive to me, but I also find it offensive to all the men I’ve been out with.”
Some gay critics are trying to explain what she said away, throwing out “What she means is…” or “She’s just bisexual and she just doesn’t realize it.”
They can’t accept publicly that sexuality can be a choice because so much of the push for government sanctioned gay marriage is based on the argument that these folks have no choice. They say they’re hard wired to be gay and they couldn’t possibly go the other way. They’ve declared it a civil right and compared themselves to black people, saying that black people can’t change their color (except Sammy Sosa and Michael Jackson) and gay people can’t stop being gay.
It’s funny how those constantly arguing for tolerance are screaming for Cynthia Nixon to shut up.

The looks of the lesbian that is currently paired CN are a powerful arguement that she is actually NOT gay at all.
Tell me that's not a dude. She's Chazier than Chaz.

Reminds me of the nutty the LGBT crowd threw when Anne Heche dropped Ellen Degeneres and went straight.

How sad that some choose lust.

I wonder if she will wake up some morning in the future and ask herself, "How's this working for me?" What do you tell your children?

Ask a transgendered person about acceptance from the gay community after the operations are over….there is none…people who decide to become a person of the opposite gender are no longer homosexual, so they become the enemy. I've seen this happen for the last 30 years. Pretty sad.

I guess if you are homosexual you need to blame it on something other than yourself (and free will). It also seems you are forced to accept their way of seeing things and you had better not step out of line– not a very forgiving group although forgiveness and especially ACCEPTANCE is expected from the straight community.

So how did you make the choice to be straight? Cynthia Nixon, can do and say anything she wants, it makes no difference to me. But just because one person said doesn't make it GODS AWFULF TRUTH. One person says the can choose, ONE. Personally if I could make the choice I would be bi-sexual. Bi-sexuals get to try everything from soup to nuts as it were.

A leading gay rights activist in the UK might be sympathetic to Cynthia Nixon.
http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/5375/
"Were future generations to grow up in a gay-positive, homo-friendly culture, it’s likely that many more people would have same-sex relationships, if not for all of their lives at least for significant periods. With this boom in queer sex, the social basis of homophobia would be radically undermined."
This is increasingly the open agenda at work.

Homosexuality is a career move in Hollywood. Look at Hilary Swank, Heath Ledger, Oscars almost guaranteed. Nixon might be part of a redefining of sexuality…as in you can choose which to be and how do you know what to choose if you haven't tried it, yada, yada.

Anonymous two posts up is exactly right. Perhaps the single-biggest fraud that has been successfully pulled off in modern times is the indoctrination of much of our modern world with the attitude that sexual orientation is genetic and is not chosen. Satan can perhaps claim this fraud as one of his biggest accomplishments of all time, as the masses have swallowed it hook, line and sinker. It is so appalling that today, the vast majority simply take it for granted as an already-proven and unquestionable fact. Disturbingly, this often seems to include most so-called conservatives and professed Catholics and other Christians. I myself am troubled on occasion when numerous of those closest to me prove to be of this very belief. The masses have adopted this belief as if any debate about its merits was settled conclusively decades ago, and that any attempt to question it today is akin to questioning whether the earth is round or flat. Those of us who dare question this fraud are vilified most zealously, mercilessly, and immediately. The father of lies pulled off a tremendously huge scam, and seemed to do so extremely quickly and with great ease. It is extremely disturbing and absolutely appalling.

Meanwhile, "openly gay" Tim Gunn from Project Runway has admitted to not having had sex for 29 years, so so much for the claims the Catholic Church is cruel and hateful for suggesting people with deep seated homosexual tendencies opt for celibacy.

Of course being homosexual is a choice. "keep watch over thought for thoughts become actions, keep watch over actions for actions become habits, keep watch over habits for they become character, keep watch of character for that becomes destiny". Some homosexuals say they were born that way. Not true! Rather they are born with sexual instinct which is diected by thoughts to actions to habits to character to destiny. That is why feelings thoughts ignored or not acted out nips vice in the bud! However in our society we are wrongly told to do what feels good! WRONG

Careful, posters. You are making the same mistakes over and over again. Check this out please: http://www.firstthings.com/article/2012/01/same-sex-science.
You need to make clear what is a choice and what is not. There are people who have deep-seated attractions to those of the same sex, some living the homosexual lifestyle, some not. They can't help these attractions anymore than any other person can help their attractions. Saying these attractions are simply a "choice" is ridiculous, and such statements are used constantly as propaganda within the political queer movement to gain supporters. You need to have a lot more empathy for same-sex attracted persons and speak in greater charity.
Now, what IS a choice is whether or not to act out on these attractions and impulses. THAT is where free will is involved. Please keep these two things separate: same-sex attraction (whatever the degree) and homosexual acts.
To those obscene Anon posters who decided to post here, grow up. You're just proving our points for us, for instance that those with same-sex attractedness overwhelmingly tend to have plateaued emotionally somewhere early in life. The things you've written are worthy of high-schoolers, not mature adults.
God bless,
Tele

I've noticed that some women get into same-sex relationships more as a political statement.
Men are not as likely to do this.

This outrage from the LGBT community does not surprise me one bit. From their point of view it's very black and white, you are either born gay or your straight. Nothing exists in-between. And then the straight community is accused of being closed?
There is NO flexibility within their own community. Everyone has to fit into a designated slot, period. So much for choice.
January 27, 2012 at 12:38 pm
There is no proof that it is genetic. I have degrees in Psychology. I think the LBGT community is trying to hypnotized people now. Maybe they have special contacts where they think they can succeed.
