We are in a war. It is not a war of our choosing, but a war upon us none the less. And if we choose to act as if we are not at war, we will lose. We can pray for the end to war, but if we choose not to fight, we will lose. Prayer cannot help those who refuse to engage in the battle.
The word war seems like the exclusive domain of hyperbole, nobody really does war anymore after all. But whether we like to admit or or not, we are at war. War has been declared on us, open war. The only question is whether we have the will to fight.
I do not choose my words lightly. This is war, a war declared by the anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, militantly secularist Obama administration. And I worry whether or not we have the will to win.
The battle over the HHS contraception mandate is the latest battle in a war in which the primary tactic of the enemy is to more and more narrowly re-define freedom of religion as freedom of worship and as something you do in for one hour inside four walls. The rest of the time, you must worship the state.
This is where the soft tyranny of big government turns hard. This may well be the defining moment.

I appreciate this blog and whole heartily agree with the seriousness of this issue. HOW-EVA… Obama will play this issue for political gain. Remember the Stupak Amendment? Obama will come riding in as a White Knight come October and reverse the decision, casting the Bishops as worry-worts and spazzes. The media will trumpet the news with praise, illustrating how important it is to have such a thoughtful President who understands all types of "worship".

I posted a response to this on the Reg. site about how this is CLEARLY NOT a call to physical violence, but I have no doubt some people will misread – perhaps intentionally.
The truth is the war on religion (not BY religion) has begun and this attack on Catholicism is abhorrent and must not stand.
It is unbelievably unconstitutional, and I think would be easily overturned in SCOTUS. (At least I hope so.)
But we should remember: it wasn't long ago when Catholic priests faced execution for entering – MASSACHUSETTS! We should remember, too, that the tradition of candles in the window at Christmastime was started by the Irish as a subversive signal to priest to come and say ILLEGAL Mass in their homes.
Pray for our Church, our country and our leaders both.

Since Health care is cheaper with birth control added in (Baby's are expensive), perhaps the best solution would be just take the healthcare bargain and fire/excommunicate any that use that part of the benefit. Religous purity and cheaper cost. win/win.

@MattK: Obama cannot come riding in as knight on a white horse until he explains why he allowed this travesty of law and freedom to go unchecked for some many months. How Obama chose to lie and keep his boot on the neck of his constitutents. The bruises and scourgings are still visible. Obama will try to get away with murder of mankind. This is a war of self-defense "for the blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our posterity" (Constitutional Preamble). Make no mistake, Obama has declared war on God. Only God's people stand in the way.

@Anonymous 12:35:
It is time for every citizen to choose between defending freedom of conscience or allowing the tyranny of taxation without representation, compounded by extortion. Taxing people while denying their freedom of conscience by redefining citizens as having no rational soul with conscience, and therefore, no freedom of conscience, is not in the purview of government. Dehumanizing the person as having no conscience, therefore no freedom of conscience, and levying taxes upon these citizens is taxation without representation. Imposing penalties and fines upon these citizens redefined as having no conscience, nor freedom of conscience is extortion. Refusing to allow freedom of conscience to citizens is tyranny.
Is the citizen free to support taxation without representation and extortion by illegal fines and penalties? Taxation without representation will result in illegal tax money being used to fund government and its employees, who will be taking tax money, fines and penalties collected by extortion. Government employees will be in possession of illegal and extorted money, itself a crime.

It's a war that could be easily won if the bishops would just inform Catholics that they can't be Catholics in good standing and receive communion if they vote for pro-death by abortion candidates. Anyone who did so, would be de facto excommunicated for participating in abortion.
Done. Over. Accomplished in a day.
Time to put on some pants and man it up, bishes! No one can march to war behind a vicar in a tutu.

Please look at my satire of what needs to happen to save our Catholic institutions at rantingcatholicmom.blogspot.com What we really need is a medical receptacle at every Catholic church to hold the contraceptives that Catholics turn in, dump them at any HHS site, and then produce t-shirts that say "I'm Pregnant, I'm Catholic and I Vote!"
We should sell these shirts in every parish in the country. We should overwhelm the blogosphere next Novemebr with pictures of pregnant Catholics who vote.
The first picture should be of Santorum's family….

Technically any Catholic who belopngs to, suppports, is a candidate, or office holder, or votes for a clearly anti-Catholic organization commits mortal sin and excommunicates themselves.
Bishops need to be explicit that the DNC is a de facto anti-catholic organization and any form of involvement or support will result in the stain of mortal sin and excommunication where the guilty traitor is not able to receive any sacraments except penance.
What the Bishops bind on earth is bound in Heaven. Show it.
