Break out the bubbly. I love this news. The Susan B. Anthony List has endorsed Rick Santorum for President.
I know when Pat and I dropped in at the SBA-List headquarters the morning of the March for Life, they all seemed pretty favorable towards Santorum. Patrick pathetically broke out his Santorum pom poms and cheered except he couldn’t think of anything to rhyme with “Santorum” so it was pretty short lived. But still memorable.
I think a lot of folks wanted to endorse Santorum but were waiting to make sure he could win. I think he’s proven that over the past few weeks.
Here’s the release:
Today the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), a national pro-life organization, announced its endorsement of Rick Santorum in the Republican presidential primary.
“Among the field of strong pro-life candidates in the GOP primary, one stands out as a proven leader in this great human and civil rights cause of our time. Rick Santorum communicates the vision and has exhibited the strategic and tactical prowess the pro-life movement must have in order to succeed. Women and children deserve his leadership, grounded as it is in affirming the dignity of every person.
At this inflection point in the primary process and a tipping point in history on the abortion issue, the Susan B. Anthony List endorses Rick Santorum for the Republican nomination for President,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List.
“Each one of the candidates in the Republican presidential field have made a commitment to be a pro-life president. However, none of them have the record of consistent leadership that Rick Santorum has demonstrated. At this critical moment in the race, our Board of Directors unanimously decided that we must stand with Rick Santorum, the candidate who throughout his career has stood so strongly for Life,” said Jane Abraham, Chairman of the SBA List Board of Directors.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 365,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

"I'm for 'im" rhymes with Santorum.
Hmm… It'd make a great bumper sticker:
SANTORUM – I'M FOR 'IM.
God bless

"Tipping point of history on the abortion issue". I don't see it as that. The HHS debate on contraception as women see it/religious liberty as the USCCB sees it is not a winning point for him.
Terry Schivo will be the Democrats "Willy Horton" add.
I do now suspect Rick will get the nomination but a true social conservative that doesn't waver on any issue proabably won't pull much more than 42-43% in the general election.
Gonna be intesting times.
Rover.

People Please get your facts straight and take off the blinders. I just saw a few days ago on a Catholic blog where Rick does not have a solid pro-life and family record. Have you not heard about his support of Arlen Specter over pro-life Pat Toomey? Or the fact that he considers certain forms of Contraception not to cause abortions? or that he supported the Title X Program? Wake Up Creative Minority Report!

He BRAGS about funding Planned Parenthood! What happened to all that anti-PP outrage of a few months ago?? It's OK if Rev. Rick does it but not Obama???!!
