Rick Santorum is the miracle man and it’s time for Newt to scoot.
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum won the Alabama and Mississippi primaries Tuesday, pulling off another pair of surprise victories and boosting his claim to be the conservative alternative to Republican front-runner Mitt Romney.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who built his campaign around the Southern strategy, appeared headed to a second-place finish in both states while Mr. Romney was trailing slightly in third.
Go Rick Go!!
Updates with some quotes from pro-life leaders:
“Despite attempts by some opinion makers to cast Rick Santorum’s strong support for women, the unborn and the family in a negative light, his wins in Alabama and Mississippi, as well as in Tennessee, Oklahoma and North Dakota last week show social issues are winning issues,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA List. “Voters in Alabama and Mississippi reflected upon who represents and has already fought for their values. They chose Santorum. That’s why he is winning.
“Rick Santorum’s leadership on life, marriage, and religious liberty are clearly a key part of what is sustaining him as a national leader,” said Maggie Gallagher of the Culture War Victory Fund. “He is not a regional candidate. He is competitor in the Midwest, the west mountain states and the South. That’s because voters trust that his core values are their core values.”

Santorum is not truly pro-life. He has voted for funding for contraception for planned parenthood, as he himself says in the followig video (especially from 4:10 on): http://video.foxnews.com/v/1456869706001/santorum-in-a-michigan-state-of-mind/
(NOTE: This video is from February 16th, so this is not some old issue. He is currently standing by his decision to fund planned parenthood with tax-payer dollars)
And if you understand that funds are fungible, meaning that any money given to an organization opens up an equivalent amount of money for other 'services,' then you know that by voting for funding for planned parenthood at all, you are supporting abortion. Or can anyone explain how that is not the case?

Rick had a big night. He got the biscuits and the big piece of chicken in my book. But apparently Mitt ended up with more delegates? So Hugh Hewitt and Jennifer Rubin are trying to spin this for Mitt…

Argh, let me try this again. Santorum did not vote to fund planned parenthood like it was some stand alone funding bill. It was part of the entire budget, and it was either vote for the budget with PP funding in it, or reject the budget and face a worse deal. You can perhaps fault Santorum and all of the other members of Congress who voted for the budget for not holding out, but quit trying to turn Santorum into someone who is not dedicated to the pro-life clause. And at least he's not the one out there suggesting that we don't even talk about social issues – you know, like the beloved Ron Paul.

Patrick – half fixed. What's your excuse this time? ha ha [insert Nelson Muntz laugh here]

Santorum voted on a federal bill called “Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.” It contained funding for training, Center for Disease Control research, and services for the elderly. It also funded the Title X Family Planning Program which Planned Parenthood draws on to fund “contraceptive related reproductive health care services to low-income women,” according to its web site. The money could NOT be used to fund abortions.

Anon, are you really so naive as to believe that if I give X number of dollars to an organization for a specified purpose that that organization now no longer has to spend X number of dollars on that purpose and is free to spend it elsewhere? To make it more clear, if I give any money to planned parenthood for any reason, even "contraceptives only," planned parenthood now no longer has to spend that amount of money on contraceptives and is free to focus it on other areas, like their cash-cow of abortion. If you can't see that, then there's no point having a conversation any more.
And Zummo, the fact that it was part of a bigger bill doesn't seem to phase Santorum when he talks about it in the video I posted above. In other words, he is not trying to couch his vote for contraceptive funding for planned parenthood in the context of the bigger bill. He states in the video that he is in favor of funding for contraceptives for planned parenthood. So stop trying to defend him in a way that he is not even doing for himself.
The reality is, Santorum's record on pro-life is pretty bad: he backed Arlen Specter (stood on the same stage with him, in fact) in his bid for the GOP nomination back in '96. And Arlen Specter is Mr. Pro-Choice Republican. He also endorsed him for Senate in 2004. Specter, of course, went on to be the crucial 60th vote for cloture on Obamacare. And, as mentioned above, Santorum is unapologetic about his support for funds for planned parenthood, and, no matter how you spin it, funds for planned parenthood are in the final analysis funds for abortion.
I don't have to "turn Santorum into someone who is not dedicated to the pro-life cause." He has done that himself.
