The Obama administration is threatening to cut off birth control funding for low-income women in Texas because Texas has cut off the state’s taxpayer-funding of Planned Parenthood.
This is rather ironic since Obama is threatening to destroy religious liberty in this country because he says the need for women to have access to contraceptives is sooooooo dire that all other concerns must fall by the wayside.
But it seems that something is even more important to Obama than contraception. And it’s…funding Planned Parenthood.
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told Texas that unless they fund Planned Parenthood the federal government will withdraw funding for a Texas program providing more than 100,000 poor women with birth control and other health services.
Texas Governor Rick Perry called it an “egregious federal overreach.”
The Weekly Standard reports:
As was the case when Indiana cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, there are plenty of clinics that provide birth control but don’t perform abortions. In other words, the Obama administration thinks taxpayer-funding of Planned Parenthood is more important than women’s access to birth control.
So the list of priorities would probably be something like 1) Abortion. 2) Contraception and #3,479) Religious Liberty.

I mean, you can't make this stuff up!
BTW, anybody else notice that Gateway Pundit flagged the fact that Sandra Fluke, so impoverished she can't afford to buy contraceptives, spent a 2011 vacation in places like Spain and Italy? It's a shame the toll that mean ol' Catholic college is taking on her finances.

#3,479, huh? That high?

#3,479 seems a bit high to me.

Sherry – it's March Madness. It ought to be 64 points lower.

Cecile Richards has the power over life and death and Obama wants it too. Tonite, let the aborted souls rock Obama's bed and visit Richards in hers.

Tonight, let George Tiller entertain Sebelios.

and let Pelosi be carried off by every lie she ever told.

Obama is a prisoner of the womens' movement. He probably thinks that's a good thing, but it's fundamentally unmanly.

Mary, "George Tiller"? Really? You are beneath contempt.

Where are the feminists and media moaning that Obama is waging a war on women??
March 16, 2012 at 2:42 pm
I think we are all forgetting something here. They can feel free to do this because the HHS Mandate already has it covered by the private insurance companies. Of course, ultimately, you're right. Abortion is the primary focus of this administration.

Georgetown, a Catholic College?
March 17, 2012 at 4:35 pm
Maybe, but he also wants to get rid of the lower class via birthcontrol :-/ Seriously, anyone else (except maybe Ms.Fluke) can afford contraceptives if they choose. The thing in TX is appalling, Obama is absolutely willing to take actual healthcare away from women to prove his point. PP was providing a small percentage of the services, mostly for contraception, but the state had more than enough providers willing to step up and fill the gap left by PP. Perry wrote a great editorial about the whole thing which was only published in a couple of papers here in TX.

@Anonymous 3/15 at 10:38—no, she isn't.
Killing Tiller was not murder, in the moral sense; absent an overarching law it would've been a good deed. Since, however, we have an overarching law, it was a crime, because society cannot permit any private bloodletting, no matter how eminently justified.
Oh, what, did you think a court-conviction makes somebody guilty? If a person is found to deserve some punishment, they deserved it all along. Kindly don't confuse "civil peace" with justice; justice is only one of its many components. One of the others is that justice has to be meted out by the proper channels, and anyone who claims authority to bypass those channels is also denying their legitimacy. Essentially, it wasn't a murder—but it was insurrection.
