Just breaking now. Rick Santorum is suspending his campaign. More to follow….
Makes sense to get out before Pennsylvania….
It is now virtually impossible for Rick to prevent Romney from getting to the magic number and a loss in his home state of Pennsylvania would be devastating to all that he has accomplished in this campaign by reinforcing the memory of his 2006 defeat. Best to get out now…
A report now that Rick called Mitt to concede…
Waiting for Rick to speak….
It’s official. It seems that Bella’s illness weighed heavily in his decision to drop out now. Very understandable from a personal and political point of view.

So, has this been published anywhere yet? How'd you hear?

Just listened to parts of Santorum's speech on suspending his campaign. Understand he can still receive donations if he suspends rather than quits in order to pay off incurred expenses.
Sad, Santorum was my pick.

I'm so sad over this. But, if he dropped out for the sake of his daughter and family, that's the right thing in my book. (I'm still leaving up my yard sign!!)

This highlights the problem with our political system— No one who cares about their family can make it through the campaign process.
So we're left electing the sort of men who put ambition before family. And then we wonder why our country is such a mess.

More power to you Rick. You are a husband and father first.

I so wanted to vote for Rick in California. I always try to vote for the most conservative candidate in the primary. With a special needs daughter there will always be something to take care of. At least Rick brought forth great ideas and challenged the Republican party to think in a Conservative Catholic way.

The problem with Romney is that he does not believe in his positions and changes them for political expedience Santorum like him or not at least says what he believes. Vote for Romney and don't be surprised when you get a Obama light.
Thanks

You know, Patrick, you are far, far more charitable toward Santorum than Mark Shea is.
April 13, 2012 at 7:36 am
@Joseph D'Hippolito: Given Mark Shea routinely equated George Bush to Saddam Hussein—we all remember Bush regularly having the relatives of his opponents gang-raped and/or fed into meat-grinders, right?—no degree of uncharity from such a creature should surprise anyone.

The fact that anybody, let alone Shea, would equate the two shows how far the study of logic has deteriorated in the United States.
