If reports are to be believed, the SSPX has signed the doctrinal preamble likely paving the way for the regularization of the traditionalist society. I am on record that I believe this ultimately to be a very good thing for the Church and I am personally very excited about. It will likely be some time more, days, weeks, who knows until we know the contents of the text that was reportedly signed and the status of the Society.
I think this is a good thing. Others think this is a very very good thing.
I have seen comments saying that the war against, well they don’t actually say against whom, but the war against the presumably doctrinally and liturgically challenged has been won with this one stroke of the pen (Oh and the whole Resurrection thing too.) Puppets masses are a thing of the past, there will be mass converts to Latin masses, priests will be turning back to the Lord and away from the happy clappers in the pews, Gregorian chant will be sung on the streets, the sales of ankle length skirts will skyrocket, and the heretics will soon be banished.
Can you say irrational exuberance?

SSPX reunification would be a crown jewel in the papal tiara Pope Benedict XVI refuses to wear.

I must remind you, Jacob, that the Catholic Chuch has the guarantee of the Holy Spirit. Do not forget it, if you call yourself Catholic :@

Did you bother to read the whole post before commenting?
You should, if you call yourself Catholic.

Jacob, the Papal tiara with all of its jewels will be seen in the metaphysical realm.

The Papal tiara was a part of the pope's regalia as the secular sovereign of the papal states. Nowadays even the reigning princes of Monaco and Liechtenstein—or for that matter Thailand and Japan—pretty much just wear suits in public.
Rightly or wrongly, the current etiquette is for sovereigns to wear the same clothes as their ministers, or slightly modified ones. Hence, the Pope doesn't dress markedly different from any other bishop.

I consider myself to be a traditional Catholic, and I attend EF Latin liturgy when possible (if not we all go to the best option Novus Ordo around, which isn't all that bad). On the one hand, I would love to have a closer EF Latin mass closer to us. But on the other hand, I can't shake the feeling the SSPX are…for lack of a better word…cowards who left the rest of us hanging to fight the libbies alone. I've heard all their rhetoric, blah blah blah, the church left us, blah blah blah, we were never in schism etc.
I guess the point is not whether I would feel welcome in an SSPX parish (and I don't care one way or another) it's whether I would feel righteous. To date, I wouldn't. But if the Pope says they are now legitimized, then that's all I or anyone should need. But a gesture of contrition for all the pain the SSPX leaders have caused would help, and go a long way here.
