Some good news out of NC. Traditional marriage wins big! 60% to %40. That’s big.
North Carolina is poised to become the 31st state to add an amendment on marriage to its constitution, with voters banning same-sex marriage and barring legal recognition of unmarried couples by state and local governments.
North Carolina would be the last state in the south to add such an amendment, and supporters hoped for a resounding victory.
Incomplete returns show the amendment up 59.72 percent to 40.28 percent. Some large counties, including Durham and Mecklenburg have not reported results.

They might have to vote next year for a TRIPLE ban, instead of this mere DOUBLE ban.

This is good news. Hopefully some radical judge won't try to bring this to the courts. Remember California – they voted this down and then it went to the courts. Liberalism is tolerant only when you agree with them.

Liberalism is only tolerant when it abolishes all independent thoughts, period, especially from religious Chrisitians and most especially Catholics.

This is great, the last time the NC constitution was modified re: marriage, it was to keep whites from marrying people with black blood in the last 3 generations. This is equally progressive. Kudo's to those forward thinking Tarheels.
Can't wait to head here about the President now supporting gay marriage.

One of the reasons Bush won in '04 is that the Mass Supreme Court declared "gay marriage" the law in '03. Hopefully this will also help Romney, because the majority of Americans are not in favor of "gay marriage". By the way, it bears repeating: There is no such thing as "gay marriage". It's an illusion.

Rover: the question is not one of "progress", but of reason.
Now, rationally (I know you're an atheist, but pretend for the moment you're capable of reasoning), the purpose of marriage is sex. Sex between blacks and whites, or for that matter Indians and whites, is still sex, provided both organs involved are sex-organs. Hence why Catholic countries have never had the concept of, let alone laws against, "miscegenation"—there's a reason New Spain is majority-mestizo and New England is nearly 100% white, gringo. And indeed, most of the 20th century's advocates against interracial relationships were your fellow atheists who thought they knew science, e.g. Margaret Sanger.
But since in homosexual "sex", one of the organs is actually one end of the digestive tract, it's not really sex. And since the state has no stake in marriage except that it needs to perpetuate its populace, why in hell should it be recognizing intrinsically non-reproductive relationships? And don't raise the specter of infertile couples: if those organs were healthy, reproduction would occur; the healthiest rectum ain't never gonna grow a baby. Many people never see combat in the military reserves, but does that mean paintball clubs have a right to receive the same benefits as reservists?
