This story sickens me. Is Nancy Pelosi’s Catechism just different from everyone else’s?
Yesterday, Pelosi told reporters that her Catholic faith “compels” her to “be against discrimination of any kind” and thus for same-sex marriage.
Answering a question about how she correlates her Catholic faith and her public stance in favor of gay marriage, she said:
“My religion has, compels me–and I love it for it–to be against discrimination of any kind in our country, and I consider this a form of discrimination. I think it’s unconstitutional on top of that.”

God forbid we be prejudiced against sinful acts.

Yes, she must have a different Catechism than the rest of the world has.

The most sickening thing is that she can still claim to be a member of the Catholic Church. It is the duty of the Bishops to deal swiftly and vigourously with such harmful scandals.

It is seriously time for her Bishop to correct her publicly. She is one of the most widely recognizable Catholic figures in the country, and she is spouting nonsense that is completely at adds with the faith.

The crazy old lady has emerged from the attic again.

Seriously! who is her Bishop and why is he doing this to the Faithful? I just do not understand.
Brothers and Sisters of the Faith, please pray that the Holy Spirit will grace me (and us all) with the understanding I need so that I can draw closer to God and not become increasingly blocked in my Faith development because I simply do not "get" the Bishop's hesitancy to publicly address her outrageous statements regarding her religion.
I'm serious. I will get back with you when I get some understanding and let you know what I have learned.

My wife, to whom I am devoted to and ask St Monica every day for her intersession, likes to drop "Pelosi (or Biden) supports this or that and she/he is Catholic." As if this legitimizes opposition to Church Teaching.

Pelosi is as well versed in Constitutional law as she is in Catholicism, God help us.

Chesterton (I think) said in another context that while Shakespeare's religion was not his (S's)religion, Milton's religion was definitely his (M's) religion.
When Mrs. Pelosi speaks of her faith, it may indeed be HER faith, but it is not THE Faith, one and eternal.

She is pathetic. How dare she think her definition of the Catholic Church is accurate. How dare she think that she knows better as to what her faith tells her. Her hubris is beneath contempt.

How is this woman a Catholic in good standing? She believes nothing that the Church teaches and has gone so far as to correct bishops on the "official teching" of the Church. She has caused extreme scandal year after year and is not corrected by the bishops. And yet no bishop cares enough to correct her or excummunicate her. Not only should she be excommunicated but something has to be done about the bishops who refuse to enforce canon law and do their duty to uphold the faith.

thanks, commenters, for the refresher course on why the catholic church is going the way of the dinosaur.

Hey, Anonymous 9:53 —
Obviously you're not a Catholic, so why not keep your snark off an orthodox Catholic site? And learn some standard English spelling: proper nouns are capitalized…The Catholic Church
