Obama “strongly objects” to the House’s attempt to put forth a defense authorization bill that would protect military chaplains from any repercussions from refusing to perform gay marriages.
(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration “strongly objects” to provisions in a House defense authorization bill that would prohibit the use of military property for same-sex “marriage or marriage-like” ceremonies, and protect military chaplains from negative repercussions for refusing to perform ceremonies that conflict with their beliefs, according to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
In a policy statement released Wednesday, the OMB outlined numerous objections to aspects of the fiscal year 2013 National Defense Authorization Bill (H.R. 4310). The bill was reported out of the House Armed Services Committee last week and is set to be debated in the House, beginning Wednesday.
Overall, it recommends that President Obama veto H.R. 4310 if its cumulative effects “impede the ability of the Administration to execute the new defense strategy and to properly direct scarce resources.”The veto warning is not specifically linked to the two provisions dealing with marriage, but they are listed among parts of the bill which the administration finds objectionable.

Of course he does. He hopes to force everyone to bow to his will.

So, Obama is going to shut down the military to get ssm. Read the small print "scarce resources" there were no scarce resources until Obama took office. Make a crisis, take power, everything. Obama's motto. How long O Lord must we suffer in bondage? no pun intended.

This man is frightening in his quest to remake the world. I have this nightmare where he has lost the election and come January 2013 he refuses to leave the White House!!!!

Military chaplains have a hard job with death' adultery' and abandonment. Give me a break! They can't handle 2 people that want commitment? Can you say "Straw man"?
I was in the USAF. The ministers there were pro's. Civilians, grow up.

Rover,
A faithful Catholic priest is not going to marry a gay couple.

My husband served in Korea and our son is a "pro" Catholic priest. Good, faithful priests will not participate in pretending to marry a same sex couple.

If an American Catholic priest were to preside at the "marriage" of a same sex couple, how would his bishop respond? With silence? With expressions of sadness and disappointment? I would hope that it would be with prompt, firm resolve and strict adherence to Church policy and procedure. We need bishops to lead from the front.

I don't believe any minister should have to do any marriage if they don't want to. But they need no "protection", they are big boys and officers. My wife and I couldn't' get married in the RCC. Happily, it made my wife leave it.
I respect military ministers. SSM will happen, where legal. Military posts should allow them in those locations.
