You know how pretty much any study that says there may be an increased rate of cancer if you use your cell phone, drink soda, eat meat or cook your lunch in the microwave.
But any study that says anything about contraception or IVF being in danger to women is typically met with silence by the mainstream media.
So CMR thanks the UK Telegraph for their report showing a link between IVF treatements in your women and breast cancer.
Researchers at the University of Western Australia found women who had IVF treatment at a younger age had a higher risk of developing the disease over the following 15 years.
Oestrogen, a hormone which is known to fuel certain forms of breast cancer, may be up to 13 times higher during an IVF cycle than normal.
Concerns have been raised about the use of strong hormones to stimulate the ovaries to produce more eggs during fertility treatment as hyperstimulation can be fatal.
I’m telling you that there’s a lot of Catholics out there who don’t have any clue that IVF is viewed as anything but a wonderful new way to make babies. I can think of three Catholics who didn’t.
I don’t know why we don’t discuss this more. We should absolutely promulgate this more. And besides being morally problematic, it’s dangerous.

I'm reminded of something an old professor of mine used to say (I'm paraphrasing): the violation of the Natural Law often brings with it its own natural punishment.

You can't fool Mother Nature.
God forgives always
Man forgives sometimes
Nature forgives never.

I am with you Matthew. I have been screaming about IVF for 6 years. How it is dangerous not just for the woman but also the embryos that are made en masse. IVF has directly leading to embryonic stem cell research and human cloning (IVF doc in San Diego first to successfully clone a human embryo) and it will be the vehicle for human genetic enhancements on offspring that cannot give consent. Once you start creating life outside the body anything goes really.

IVF takes second place for two reasons: abortion is a much more obvious issue and it's hard to argue about a baby.
When you can't get across the point that killing a small person is bad, it's very hard to convey that treating them like a consumer good is bad.

I'm glad that you posted this!
We must absolutely spread the word–this is the responsibility of ALL FAITHFUL, for the good of women's lives, the good of families, and of society. As a former NFP Coordinator, seminarians, clergy and pastoral staff (not to even mention to wider Catholic population) are grossly unperformed in this area.
Two helpful resources: videos on FertilityCare, the best IVF alternative:

The Edith Stein Foundation has as its mission to educate on women's dignity in this area. You may want to consider on of our speakers to invite to your parish/ diocese/ community group:

Lastly, remember that NFP Awareness Week is in July. This is a great opportunity to speak about related issues, including alternatives to IVF!

Pardon my misspelling: "[Pastoral Staff]…are grossly *underformed*" (dang autocorrect!)
