The former governor of North Dakota is worried that a religious freedom resolution being put in front of voters next week could end up establishing some manner of theocracy where bishops act as our overlords telling people what to do and who to vote for.
Former Governor George Sinner (I’m not making up the name) who is reportedly Catholic and has ten children came out against the religious freedom resolution, saying, “It portends bad things.”
So what does it portend?
…Sinner insists there’s no reason to change them, and says instead of giving rights back to the people, it’s actually taking them away.
“Every individual has the right to his or her own choices and this will put the rights under control of a couple bishops,” Sinner said.
People’s rights will be under control of a couple bishops?
What?
In case you’re not following, he seems to be saying that if we give people religious liberty, the bishops will control everything so it’s best if government just tells people what to do.
This is the same Governor who vetoed a pro-life bill, saying that government “must not play God.”
Right. So let’s keep the killing of babies legal so as to avoid playing God.
Measure 3 would amend the constitution by adding this provision: “Government may not burden a person’s or religious organization’s religious liberty. The right to act or refuse to act in a manner motivated by a sincerely held religious belief may not be burdened unless the government proves it has a compelling governmental interest.”

I think I've finally figured it out. Remember the Bizzaro character from Superman? They've taken over. We just weren't watching when it happened.

Measure 3 is reasonable, but will it help the photographers who don't want to do a gay wedding because it's against their religious principles? Or does the anti-bigot law supersede people's moral/religious convictions?

I'm not particularly worried about Bishops, but those words applied to Imams on the other hand…..

This guy has had a chip on his shoulder regarding the Church for some time:

Basically whenever he gets his nose out of joint regarding the Church he wants Big Brother to intervene. I am eternally happy the Founding Fathers were not of this mindset.

@ProudHillbilly: close, but no, this represents an invasion from Earth-3, where the Justice League are the World Crime Syndicate and Lex Luthor is the world's only superhero.
How else explain the totally backward moral conception?
