Ya know all those talking heads who were climbing all over each other a few months ago to declare the Tea Party movement dead? Oops.
Yeah, I am sure they suddenly cannot remember either.
Former state solicitor general Ted Cruz, a tea party-aligned conservative once regarded as a long-shot candidate, has won the Republican runoff in Texas, where he will be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate in the November election. The Associated Press has called the race for Cruz over Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Cruz will be a heavy favorite over Democratic nominee Paul Sadler, who also won a runoff on Tuesday.
Cruz, an emerging conservative star whose father emigrated to the United States from Cuba, has drawn comparisons to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and has been lauded by national conservative political pundits and groups for over a year. His victory is a major blow to the Republican establishment in Texas, which lined up squarely behind Dewhurst. It’s also a victory for the tea party and national conservatives who lined up behind Cruz even when a surprise win appeared unlikely.
We will take the Republican party away from Republicans one candidate at a time.

Dewhurst's campaign was one of the dirtiest I've seen, and the net result, IMHO, was he portrayed himself as a political insider. (which by the way is 100% accurate). I'm glad Cruz won, solely because it should reinforce the notion that our representative represent US, not themselves.

We've seen this before. They go to D.C. Once there they are tempted with reasonable sounding compromises. They either become compromised, or they become ineffective because the other politicians can easily outflank the new guy.
You don't need a senator. You need a local farmer. You have to get yourself to a point where you can do business off the record, so that you can provide for yourself and your family even as the stupidity from D.C. ramps up. It is going to get worse, regardless of who wins what race.
