I have given a name to my pain and it is Chris Christie. A week before the election and Mitt Romney had all the momentum. And then the hurricane hit and NJ Governor Chris Christie essentially becomes mentally unbalanced and runs a freaking commercial for Obama and extolling him for doing such a fantastic job when he actually hadn’t done anything.
Oh wait, he put him on the phone with Bruce Springsteen and made Christie weep. So for that, Christie raves about Obama. The most important election was decided because a weird governor got to talk to his rock star idol. Wow. Just wow.

If you or anyone thought for a moment that Obama would NOT win reelection, then you were either dilusional or lying to yourself. Those "polls" everyone quoted repeatedly were nothing more than ratings-grabbers (no close election, no news). And if there is no perception that it may be a close race, the DNC would have missed out on the majority of their donations, which occur precisely at election year. This is unfortunately the best outcome; Ryan has been vetted, and he can now run for president in 2016 without being saddled to a Mormon scumbag.

No offense to this blogger, but I find this post fairly irritating. It doesn't help that the masses, yourself included, always end up supporting the GOP's pick in the end no matter who it is. That is precisely why the establishment continues to put up awful candidates – because they know they can always take all these votes for granted no matter how disappointed republicans are with the nominees. And that's precisely why they'll nominate another awful candidate in 2016.
So as for your problem with Christie, I know full well that you will support Christie in 2016 if he is the nominee (and he likely will be), which proves my point.
I don't say this to be disrespectful, but to point out what I see as one of the main problems with the functioning of the GOP and GOP voters.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Take a chill pill here. I really, really doubt Christie's slobbering all over Obama decided the election. More likely it was the auto bailout and strong union presence that won it for O in Ohio, Michigan and probably also Wisconsin. If O wins Florida (still not decided at this hour) it will probably be because of the non-Cuban Hispanic vote. All that was in place long before a "weird governor got to talk to his rock star idol."

I live in New Jersey and doubt Ohioans cared. Just saying.

2 all 3 "anonymous" comments before me, you are all right on the money. If weak-willed Republicans keep bending over for whoever manages to get the party nomination, regardless of how unqualified, unreliable or how far they have strayed from the platform, then there is no hope for the party at all. Sometimes it is best to vote with your feet. Reagan was famous for saying he didn't leave the Democratic party, but that it left him. The same thing is happening with the Republican party, in part due to the fact that people like this blogger will in the end swallow whatever they are handed at the end of the day, rather than spitting out and saying, "Enough!"

I am going to put this on the account of your disappointment not on the account of your reasoning abilities. If Americans lacked the mental capacity/intelligence/self preservation instinct to realize after 4 years that BHO was bad news nothing was going to change that fact. Gov Christie cared about his state exclusively as he very well should have. It is irrational to put American idiocy on his back.

Also, last I looked Romney was still ahead slightly in the overall popular vote totals. This was hardly a cakewalk or a mandate for either candidate. You could look at it this way: A second (or maybe even third) string GOP candidate came within a hair of beating Obama.
Maybe now that the GOP has gotten Romney out of its system and Obama will have to wear the jacket for everything that happens in the next 4 years (including the "fiscal cliff," the full impact of Obamacare taxes, and any military or economic crises that arise) it might have a much better chance in 2016.

Nice. Blame it on the fat guy.
But you don't blame the pathetically out-of-touch rich guy who who will pander to anyone and everyone — teabaggers, flat-earthers, bible bangers, pro-lifers — to get himself elected.

Wow! So, CATHOLIC Chris Christie turns down the Republican nomination for VP because he actually has a spine, morals and most likely knew that running with such a scurrilous character as Romney would damage his credibility, and you have the gall and hypocrisy to bash one of the very few FAITHFUL Catholic politicians we have in office. Must be very easy and comfortable for you to snipe at people who have to make difficult decisions for a higher good in their consituency and do far more for their fellow man than you ever have or ever will do.

Nice. Blame it on the fat guy.
Wait, which one: Matthew or Christie?

It was the unbelievable job numbers two weeks before the election. Not that fat gov who makes compromises on abortion and claims to be Catholic

Our prayers could not save us our God must be depleased with us. I am also to blame, I pretty much laugh when the prayers of the faithfull ask for good rulers because I do think that had any posability of happening at this time.
Now I pray I was prophetic and not cynical. please pray for our one Holy Catholic Church, our nation and me too.

Is this post meant to be a joke? You can't be serious Matthew. Because if that's what you really think, I have to question your sanity! Romney and the Republican's failure to win this election lays solely on the feet of Romney and the Republicans, NOT Christie. Get a grip on yourself!

Of course they don't. I live in Washington and no one here cares/cared either. People will vote what is best for their own interests, or that of the group(s) they associate with. To think people in Ohio even know who Christie is, let alone value his opinion is lame, as is the entire premise for this article to begin with.

I think FL, PA, VA & OH were stolen.

1) It doesn't matter WHO the GOP chooses. The people want their government handouts. Not just those on welfare, either. If people could not be stirred by the insanity that has taken over the last four years, something tells me that a more conservative person on the ballot will not stir the apathetic masses.
2) Yea. The election was stolen. Here in Ohio, guess who held all the early voting parties, handing out free food – and probably helping the elderly and the homeless (and probably felons and dead people) fill in their ballots?
3) it wasn't Christie. It wasn't weak alternatives to BHO. Rome is falling again. It is left to us to be witnesses to the Church, once again.

The election was stolen? In states where Republicans have control of the election apparatus? Do you have a brain injury? I know it's a bitter pill to swallow, but trust me, you will survive this. I just know it.
Handouts? What a Christian thing to say. I'm quite sure the Church hasn't all of a sudden stopping caring for the poor. Are you even Cathoic? Me thinks not by the nature of that comment.
Yes, it was all for the FREE FOOD that people stood in line for 5 hours to vote.
Rome is falling??? This is the United States of America.

Wow. Trolls are out in swarms, today; I should have expected that, I suppose.
Just ignore them, Matt; trolls never swarm for more than a day or so, if not fed.

It isn't Christie, it is reality. It has really gotten this bad, while you sit in your nice little habitation playing Christian. You don't see how many have fallen away, how it is barely even Church anymore- riven as it is with this right wing feminism that makes having any sort of place as a man unfeasible unless you are lucky enough to be on something that looks like a 'career-track.'
It isn't Christie, it is all the people who are going to vote for more handouts, because that is how they get money.
It isn't Christie, it is the fact that you are one of the 'crazies'. You, like Ron Paul believe that certain things cannot be and should not be decided by an election, legislation, and certainly should not be flouted by any decent court.
Sometimes you just have to set yourself apart, however scary that may seem. The Republicans are the demons who beguile us, at least occasionally saying what we want in an attempt to get us to participate in their vile sacraments. Walk away. Purify yourself. I guess, in some ways, Christie is the problem, because most Republican politicians are just like him and will do exactly what he did if they find themselves in similar circumstances.

The Baby Butcher won the vote of the people so jealous of Romney’s success, they were afraid to share in it. The separation of church and state does not address Obama’s separating the sovereign person from his Creator. The unalienable civil rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, our rational immortal souls’ destiny starting here on earth and ending in heaven with a relationship with almighty God. Separating God from the state, the state from unalienable rights, man from his Creator. Who has the power to change God?
