It’s recently been discovered that the newly selected pope has ties with a hate group which discriminates against women and homosexuals. Some say the group is even more hateful and dangerous than the boy scouts.
The news should shock the millions of people who seemed to like the so called “humility” of the new pope who still rides the bus.
Some say it was shocking to learn that the last pope had ties to Hitler Youth but that at least wasn’t voluntary. But Pope Francis seems to have joined the hate group some call The Catholic Church voluntarily and served in it for many years, at least since 1969.
But it gets worse. While millions of Catholics call themselves Catholic while not actually believing anything the Church stands for, Pope Francis actually seems to believe in what the Church promulgates as truth, such as that homosexuals are evil. The group also doesn’t allow women to serve in any roles of responsibility.
“I can’t believe the Pope is Catholic and not just nominally Catholic,” said one media analyst who had hoped that the Church would promote a pope that didn’t actually believe in Catholicism. “This is the 21st century and all.”
Many take hope that the pope is 76 years old and has only one lung in the hopes that the cardinals elected an elderly pope as a “placeholder pope” so that they can then elect a pope who is not so Catholic next time.

I know this is a humor piece, one which I found very funny too, but to quibble, the Church doesn't teach "homosexuals are evil" but that "homosexual acts" are. I know you know this better than I, but thought it worth comment for those who believe we actually think the former. God Bless.

Yeah, we are evil and we are COMIN' TO GET YOU, Matt, you dumbass.

I agree with Nathan. When people read something like this as parody, they try to figure out what the truth is under the humor.

Nathan is right. That sentence probably should be amended to reflect what the Church actually teaches and not what people outside the Church think the Church teaches.

VERY important to amend that sentence. After all, the Catechism, in paragraph 2358 says, as regards gays:
"…They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
The church very carefully makes a distinction between the act and the person, always insisting the person be treated with sensitivity and dignity. This really should be reflected in your writing.

That's the whole point people. It's supposed to read like that to show how stupid it is that people think the Church hates the homosexual PERSON.

I agree, that is how I understood this piece of humor, too. As most Catholics who have been properly catechized, we were taught to love the sinner, hate the sin. But this kind of teaching doesn't advance the gay activist agenda. To the public we must be seen as haters to garner any sympathy for their cause.

The post is badly worded…
"…what the Church promulgates as truth, such as that homosexuals are evil."
Leaving out "such that" as extraneous it reads,"what the Church promulgates as truth, […] that homosexuals are evil."
The article should be amended. We get the point because we are "in the know" but the article states that the Church believes that "homosexuals are evil". That is not a misreading.

I agree with Ron. Even with the overall sarcastic nature of the while post, it does read as though in actuality (and not sarcastically), the Church promulgates that homosexuals are evil. It reads as though Pope Francis DOES seem to believe in that, and as if it's poking fun at people who have a problem with that.
