I just met a woman at the bookstore who told me a great story. I was sitting next to her tap tap tapping away on my keyboard here and she was seated at the next table. In between us though was the cutest baby in the world in a car seat absolutely blissfully asleep with a blue pacifier in his mouth.
She thanked me for being quiet when I got up to grab some water. We ended up talking for a few minutes. Actually we whispered. She had two other children who were at school at the time. She was waiting to go pick them up.
I made fun of her for reading a Young Adult book. I could make the joke because I’d read the book before. She said it’s better than what she used to read. She said she used to read magazines like Cosmo and things like that. Until one day she walked into a room to see her two year old kicking back on the couch leafing through Cosmo.
Oh no.
She said she took it away from him but then she wondered why on Earth did she have Cosmo in the house if it was so inappropriate for children. And if it was inappropriate for children, then it was probably inappropriate for her as well to have in the house. So she stopped reading it.
It’s funny how kids not only change everything we do but also how we see things. They offer us an opportunity for a fresh perspective on ourselves.
Now, I gotta’ go pick up the kids.

I let my People Magazine subscription go after it expired because my older three girls were leafing through it as soon as it would come. To the point that my second oldest daughter couldn't wait for Friday because that was the day it came.
I knew it wasn't truly appropriate but it didn't smack me in the face until I realized that that stuff wasn't for them and the only way to keep them from it was to not have it myself. After a month of not getting the magazine, I realized we didn't miss it so much.

When I am in line at Target, I turn the Cosmo around. Every issue is disgusting and offensive. I have requested that they be put in the back with other magazines, or covered, as I have seen at Jewel stores…but, the powers that be will not change. It would be fun if we all just reached over and turned them around, or put something in front of them! No one needs that trash.

In most of the supermarkets in Ireland, pornographic magazines are on display for children and adults alike to see. Objections are ignored; there is a deliberate effort Ar work to corrupt public morals and desensitise people to sexual perversion. It is obscene, indecent and sexual abuse, particularly of children. But the powers that pull the strings want this. Laws are ignored, not enforced. Managers used to tell me they were given no discretion when it came to that matter. Parents have to try to shield their children from it but it's everywhere. And of course, the state authorities deny any link between this pornography forced on all, including children and depraved attacks on children and adults. We live in a time when reason is despised – it doesn't help the agenda of those who wish to kill off much of the human race and control the rest.
