A number of students at St. John’s University in New York are protesting the administration’s invitation to Republican Peter King to speak at their commencement ceremony next month.
This is a “scandal” where the “scandal” isn’t actually what they think it is. It’s about the sad state of much of Catholic higher education.

I reiterate a comment I offered today on another blog: Unfortunately, people today do not learn to reason.
Schools, especially colleges, should be teaching people how to think, how to reason, not what to think. When it comes to issues apart from hard science, it appears that almost all of them fail in this responsibility.
