Zimmerman’s lawyer stood before the judge at the close of the prosecutions’s case and argued that the Stste of Florida had failed in its burden and that Zimmerman should be summarily acquitted.
He was right. Yet it never had a snowball’s chance of being approved.
This is what happens when politics trumps law. These are very dangerous times.
Even if you think that Zimmerman is guilty, one must acknowledge that the State failed to prove it.

No sane, intelligent person could look at the definition of Murder in the 2nd degree under Florida law and think Zimmerman is guilty according to the evidence.
No one. You do not need to be a lawyer to see this, or work in law enforcement.
Guilty of something, perhaps? Manslaughter maybe? Even that would be difficult to prove based on what we've seen. But it would be possible.
This is a HUGE miscarriage of justice, and frankly Zimmerman would have standing to sue the state of Florida over this abuse.
These are very dangerous times.
