This is our future folks. Go along or go to jail.
Gay marriage was banned by the Colorado constitution in 2006.
But this didn’t stop the Colorado Attorney General’s office from filing a discrimination complaint against Masterpiece Cakeshop for not baking a cake for a gay couple.
The Advocate reported:A Denver bakery that refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple is about to face the legal heat.
The Colorado Attorney General’s office last week filed a discrimination complaint against the owners of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who last year declined to make a cake for Denver couple Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig, the Associated Press reports. The couple had their marriage ceremony in Massachusetts and wanted the cake for a hometown celebration with family and friends.
Jack Phillips, one of the owners of Masterpiece Cakeshop, had cited his Christian beliefs in refusing the men’s business. “We would close down the bakery before we compromised our beliefs,” Phillips told a television interviewer last summer.
Yesterday I spoke with Attorney Nicolle Martin about the charges against the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado. Martin says the owner faces up to a year in jail for not baking a cake for the gay couple.

Rather than criticize these men, I say lets do exactly what they are doing. Every time you get offended for the world not kissing our Catholic butts or asked not to display the crucifix, lets sue their pants off. In fact, lets take another lessen from gays. Lets be overt in our public displays of our beliefs…then sue when people don't like our egregious behavior….wait…lets take another from their play book. Lets beat ourselves, cut ourselves and leave ourselves angry notes so we can pretend we are victims of some violent gay groups…well, maybe not that last one. They can keep that one to themselves, it's just too disturbing.

Actually, I've been mulling a form of what Proteios1 said. Our office gets deluged at times with pro-gay, let's all get together and celebrate men buggering each other flyers. Nobody is supposed to hurt anybody else's feelings, but I gaurandoggonetee that that stuff offends every faithful Catholic, Evangelical, and orthodox Jew in the office. So, I wonder if we could get together and sue for that stuff creating a hostile workplace.

ProudHillbilly- No, you can't, because you're not a protected group.
You're just bigots who deserve what you get.
See, equality under the law only applies to people we LIKE……

And so it begins,
The era of radical prograzi fascism. Impressment, no longer the threat of retaliation and abuse.
The gay couple could have sooooo easily chosen another baker! It's not like there aren't soooooooooooooooo many "gay" and gay happy bakers out there just dying for the opportunity to celebrate! And trust me they are legion! This business was purposely targeted to make an example of!

I guess the state of Colorado has nothing better to do than to come after a guy over a CAKE; what a good use of tax payer dollars.
Those intolerant gays are out to destroy anyone who will try on their right to disagree with their sinful lifestyle.

Target the attorney general. He must be held accountable.

Won't be the first nor the last time some one ends up in the slammer for love and obedience to the Lord. Get prepared; this is only the beginning..

What if the baker refused to bake a cake for my son's First Holy Communion, because the baker doesn't respect Papists? Answer: I can sue him for unfair discrimination. If he operates a public accommodation like a bakery our laws prevent him from unfairly discriminating against Catholics.
Same deal.

Pat, Anti-discrimination laws only apply to named protected classes of people e.g. race, religion, sex, national origin. If sexual orientation is not specifically a protected class, than the fact that it was a homosexual couple does not matter. Even if sexual orientation is listed, they should not have a case because the refusal was based on why the couple wanted the cake. Anti-discrimination laws are based on who you are and not what you are doing. If the bakery refused to serve homosexuals for being gay, that is discriminatory if they are a protected class. A refusal based on what they are doing (having a wedding reception) is not.

A queer thing is happening in the USA and a few more Marxist/ Liberal ruled states. People who support the marriage that has provided society stability and continuity for a long time are being arrested. However, when same-gender 'marriage' was not legal, people who spoke up for this union were not arrested. They had the freedom to freely express their views – something that others are not allowed to do now.

Unknown: I'm not following you. Let me try a discreet question: My local baker bakes cakes all the time for First Communion parties. He'll put a little cross on it and write "Happy FC Billy." My son is about to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah, so I ask the baker for a similar cake, but with a Star of David instead of a Cross, and "Happy Bar Mitzvah, David." He refuses.
Are you saying that my lawsuit will fail because the baker is not discriminating against me because I'm Jewish, he's only discriminating against me for doing what Jewish people do?
I'm not a litigator, but I suspect the courts wouldn't take the baker's argument seriously.

Pat, a thought on your question. IF (capital IF) the baker felt that Judaism was sinful and morally violated his religion, I could see that he might not want to bake a bar mitzvah cake, nor should he have to. None of us ought to be forced to go against our deeply held religious beliefs nor our conscience. And IF this baker felt that Judaism was immoral, why would you WANT him to bake your cake?
A better analogy might be one in which a Satanist came in and wanted a cake for some sort of Satanic ritual – a situation in which it is much easier to visualize a moral objection. Would you force the baker, on pain of imprisonment and fines, to bake a cake for a Satanist?

If this baker has to spend any time in jail for declining to bake this gay couple's cake we all truly have lost our first amendment rights and live under tyranny in the U.S.A.

I cannot believe that this absurd, asinine, case having absolutely no merit, would be allowed to clog up our overburdened legal system. The bakery owners had a legitimate reason to say "NO" if the 1st Amendment to the Constitution is still in force as law.
The couple should have acted like grown-up adults and gone to a bakery where a cake of their choice would be made and purchased, instead of acting like 2 spoiled brats playing the "POOR US VICTIMS" card. The media is just as moronic for even covering such nonsense. God save of such idiocy.
