Former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy has just been announced as the new host on The View, which might just be the most crazy anti-Catholic show on television.
We all know that Joy Behar may very well be an anti-Catholic bigot and Barbara Walters has castigated the Church numerous times. Things won’t get better with the addition of McCarthy.
McCarthy, raised a Catholic, has said she still thinks of herself as a Catholic but one that “broke free from the chain of the pope.” You see, it turned out that, as she described it, “The Catholic religion was making me feel a tad bit guilty for everything I was doing.”
She wrote a book called “Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic” which featured a picture of her in a habit.

In an age where it seems we have to walk on eggshells for fear of offending anyone, the Church is berated and disrespected more than ever. Horrifying.

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with everything the Catholic Church does, but it is taken over the top. Unfortunately, with McCarthy becoming the host the slander will likely not only continue, but get worse. With people being so heavily influenced by celebrities it is hard for them to ever develop their own unbiased opinions.

The easiest, and cheapest, way for a celebrity (or a wanna-be) to get in with the "kewl" crowd is to talk smack about the Catholic Church.
Sorry The View didn't take Joy's departure as a way to class up the show.

Nice Irish girl, eh.

She epitomizes a sub group, no doubt. Those that blame the church for having values that done condone anything, anywhere at anytime. That would be progressives. She clearly divested herself from anything that would maintain standards. The Chruch, medical research on vaccinations and joining the incessant clucking of Da View.

Never watched it. Don't care for nonsense! Did hear about "gayle?" Having like "15?" Abortions. Talk about an amoral "moron"! Wonder who is her conservator, she needs constant physical supervision, oversight and protection. Talk about diminished capacity and lack of decision making skills. What's the deal? Is she just that stupid? And get this, she's proud of it, too! The "expert" poster gal for abortion. Unbelievable!

Even the most casual perusal of the biography section of a bookstore reveals the current I'm-a-Victim fashion: "I Escaped my Jewish / Catholic / Methodist Upbringing."

There are two reasons people (mostly men) pay attention to this woman. Her brains and "medical knowledge" aren't either of them ;-}

Why do we have to go to the anti-vax hating? I know lots of faithful Catholics who don't vax for health or moral reasons. Don't clump us with McCarthy please.

Opposition to MMR vaccines on the basis of proven fraudulent claims regarding autism is not a legitimate "health or moral" reason, and has resulted in thousands of deaths. There may be legitimate opposition to other particular vaccines, but that's the big one people mean when they say anti-vaccination.

I can't help but think the mass confusion on the Church's immemorial teaching on Hell (its existence and the "many" who will enter through the "wide gate") has lead to most of this. Too many faithful Catholics believe everybody (excepting maybe Hitler and Stalin) are Heaven bound. In that context, the Church's moral teaching (designed to save us from Hell) seems needlessly constraining. After all, being a glorified porn star doesn't make one Hitler.

Actually, some of the opposition to the MMR and Chicken Pox Vaccines is due to the creation of those vaccines. Aborted Fetal Tissue was used to create those vaccines. There are alternative vaccines used in Japan that did not use aborted fetal tissue in the vaccine development, but they are not available in the US. The Vatican ruled it as remote immaterial cooperation (I believe was the terminology) with abortion when using those vaccines, so it's okay to be vaccincated, but it's okay not to as well.

Until you've met a mom who watched their vibrant child drift into autism following vaccination, I'd hold on the judgement. And if that's true, why has the US government paid families for damages caused by vaccines – including autism? This should be about her disrespect for the church, not her vax opinions.

Well gee, when the most prestigious medical journal in the world retracted a paper and the guy who wrote it lost his medical license over the fraud he committed, I incline to take that over the judgment of the people who brought us the War on Poverty.
Sorry. There is no actual demonstrated link between autism and MMR. There may be other reasons to avoid vaccines, like the one Julie mentioned, but autism is not one of them.
Besides which, even if there were a link between autism and vaccination—and again, none—I do believe you're saying it's better a child be dead than autistic. I don't know what you call that, but it ain't pro-life.
