It’s so embarrassing for a Catholic to have an outdated medal. It’s like buying the jersey of a football player on your favorite team and then you learn that he was traded the next day. Do you still wear it?
Catholic shops should have some sort of buyback policy that if the Blessed become saints, they will take it back and upgrade it free of charge. Catholics have enough to deal with, without being outcasts because of their outdated medals.

Just think of them as collector's items.

Does that make them a relic?

I have a Blessed Therese of Lisieux plaque…I think it's a nice collectors item. I'm just waiting for a Catholic version of "Antiques Roadshow" to come to town!

It's like how I can still buy stuff about "Blessed John Ogilvie" (and I sometimes hear priests refer to him as that) even though it's been almost 40 years since his canonisation!
